Arshavin surprised with the gradient but connects with Rosicky

By Aries

Andrey Arshavin has been speaking about the first pre season game at Barnet’s underhill ground and indeed he was very surprised, not about the state of the pitch but by its gradient.

“It was a bit of an unconventional pitch. I'm not talking about the surface, it was great, but the pitch is made in such a way that in the first half we had go uphill. The gradient was around 10 degrees or even more”

This didn’t stop him of course from scoring Arsenal’s first goal just before half time from an accurate cross from the impressive Watt. The end result was not that important he said.

“Today was a normal pre-season game. We've been working for 2 weeks already so we're really raring to go. A draw? I think the result was not so important for us, unlike our opponents, who really wanted to prove themselves”

Andrey was also impressed with the support from the Arsenal fans.

“I was pretty surprised to see hardly any home fans. The stadium was filled with Arsenal supporters"

Judging from the way he was connecting with Tomas Rosicky during the first half it looks like the two have the potential to form a really good partnership in the coming season.

“I asked him how long he's been away; Tomas missed a year and a half. Today he made his return and we had a first half together, trying to make new connections”

The two players will have a chance to play more together next week when the Arsenal team continue pre-season in Austria on Monday.

let's all pray to our god(s) rosicky'll stay fit this season, if he and arshavin can play together all the time we'll have the best offensie midfield in the league, only thing left to do would be to get a DM, it 'd make us complete.

and buy this chamakh guy, lots of people are already underestimating him, he has the strenghts of adebayor but with added technique and can pass the ball.

getting a vidic like defender wouldn't hurrt either, but i'm hoping vermalaen(sp) can be that guy for us.

also new goalkeeper ? almunia needs competition, fabianski atm doesn't provde that.

Why is Huntelaar not being considered as a vyable option? He's a born goal scorer, he's available, and he definately want's to come! An ohh yeah, WE HAVE THE MONEY!

Nacer Barazite is good... He can play both flanks and more importantly as a second striker as well.

Barazite is definitely a player that wenger has faith in given that he has always been praised by wenger himself. He does have the experience having had several stints with other clubs.

With Barazite, Wilshere, Merida, Ramsey, Lansbury, Randall and Hoyte, we have a crop of young and capable youngsters.

I can't wait to see Barazite in the Carling Cup finally. He so deserve it and he score on Barnet every year LOL. I can't believe Tomas played that well today, I love the fact that he was attacks and not scared, even put in some tackles and connected with Arshavin really well. Throw Cesc and Nasri, Van Persie and there and that's pretty deadly.

Why should we buy Chamakh when he go to African Cup? Why not buy Huntelaar instead? You get what you pay for....

I'm a Barnet boy born & bred, so I'm probably biased, but I think all grounds should have a slope or some other quirk to them. It would make it much more fun if changing ends really had an effect and teams could use the topography to good effect.
I think by posting this I am admitting to suffering from summer window madness.....dribble dribble. I want proper FOOTBALL.
