Tottenham’s breakdown already beginning

By 1970’s Gooner

I doubt it very much if Spurs will be challenging for a Champions League spot in the foreseeable future.

Harry Redknap was incredibly successful in putting a team together with enough flair and steel to challenge quite seriously for one of  the top four spots in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

The timing was also right. Chelsea were in the last few years beginning to suffer from old age and from their owner's strange decisions on the managerial front.

In parallel the other North London team was still having to come to terms with the increased financial burden which the new stadium demanded.

Liverpool too, the other usual contender, is still suffering from the over excessive and ill advised transfer spending of their previous and current manager.

The goings on at Spurs at the moment point to a breakdown of a successful team and more importantly of its management which will inevitably result to an eventual meltdown.

The disruption will be so severe that it is doubtful whether spurs will finish inside the top 10 next season.

The manager and his coaching staff which master minded the meteoric rise of the club in recent years has for some unfathomable reason sacked!

And the replacement looks like being the biggest flop of the decade, AVB, who was quite obviously out of his depth at Chelsea.

Additionally key players like Modric and Van de Vart who are world class players and were the key ingredient in making a good Spurs side an excellent one qualifying for the Champions League and challenging the top Premier League sides on an equal footing are set to depart.

This will leave Spurs searching for a new identity on both the management front as well as on the pitch.

And Arsenal’s domination of North London looks like being extended even further for a long time to come.

Try looking at yourselves first. In THland we are excited by the brave new dawn. And you?

Anonymous said...

what a banal and pointless moronic article mascarading as analysis

Anonymous said...

This isn't an article, it's a not very bright Gooner talking generic twaddle about Spurs. No facts, no deep analysis, no understanding the subject matter he talks in such sweeping statements about.
The fact he's even bothered to write it, is evidence enough that Arsenal are threatened by us. Simply wouldn't have been written 3 years ago.
Bale's made his statement about what he think of our future by signing a new contract. Can you say the same of Van Persie? No. Muppet.

Anonymous said...

Another arsenal fan obsessed with talking about spurs, if you cant win stuff worry about that not about us

Anonymous said...

You must have a very important and senior management job, because your use of in-depth analysis, intuitive reasoning and unquestionable knowledge shines forth like a beacon. So well written, you're undoubtedly a pundit of some standing.

NOT! A Really Stupid Expression From A Childish Ego

Peter4Spurs said...

Hhahahaha you wish, sorry how did your new super star do against the Italians?? You really think after last year your top 4 material .. when Van Persie goes Arsenal goes ... One man made your team last year, one man nearly ruined our team that is why he went.

Anonymous said...

Not going to rubbish your article as it could (hopefully not) turn out true but you don't really seem to understand why Redknapp had to go, Modric is almost a certainty to leave this year and even though we are gonna miss him, no player is other than Messi and Ronaldo are irreplaceable.

Anonymous said...

This article about the gooner's dreams, not about the facts. COYS

Anonymous said...

As a Gooner I'm all for taking the P out of Spurs but this is absolutely ridiculous. Just some daft statements without any substance. Embarrassing to read such garbidge on an Arsenal site. I suggest you delete this article, it makes you look like a total tit.

You lot are obsessed with us! Obsessed! You need to get out more.

And you really believe the tripe you just wrote?! And you say we Spurs fans are delusional. "some unfathomable reason" ?! You really have cheered me up this morning! Your club and it's fans obsession with North London and it's only North London Club is becoming embarrassing for all, but if you want to see a true football fans view more in the realms of our reality try some other link that was listed in a Spurs news feed (as this site won't let me post the link)

Im an Arsenal fan and think this article is PONY!

Why dont you let the Yids selfdestruct as per norm and concentrate on our own team...up the Arse!

Anonymous said...

Man you embarrass yourself your club and probably your father if you have one.

Although many gooner comments are simply childiahsly prejudiced there are some sites out there that actually have intelligent comments by gooners. I suggest you avoid them as I think they they will not welcome you.

Do you still want to be rid of Wenger? You should have heard your morons shouting this last season but not from us as we knew how lucky you have been.

I do not care about whether you lot implode or not as IMO we have too much in common as opposed to those clubs who prostitute themselves to success by upping whore prices and we all know what four clubs have long done that although two of them fell flat in the PL last season. They are the real enemy you fool.

Anonymous said...

Wishful thinking rather than analysis. The difference since David Dein left Arseanal, is that your boardroom is rudderless but you have a good manager. We have a good Chairman and a revolving door full of managers of variable quality. You are probably one of those "loyal" gooners who lost faith in the manager and would have taken 'Arry instead.

Where are the legions of Spurs supporters weeping and wailing for the return of our saviour?

Not a credit to real football fans at Arsenal.

I hate the scum with a passion but let's not get too cocky too soon. We need to concentrate on out own performance. Don't forget that we were 4-2 up with only minutes remaining at a time when they were bottom of the league. What happened? 4-4. With Van der Vaart, and Adebayor + a couple of other not bad players, they might surprise us all. I hope not, but let's not be arrogant about it!

Why u spuds even reading this? Bit obsessed r we knobrots?

another poor post from the goonies who believe success is finishing above spurs, so sad.....

Anonymous said...

Excessively shallow and dissapointing to read. Arsenal were very dissapointing last season and it was only the negative impact of the daft harry england saga plus diabolical decisions in the stoke spurs game which cost 3 points that saw arsenal in the champions league. Spurs should still compete for top 4. Too many good players not to, Bale staying MASSIVE boost. AVB cannot be written off because of chelsea politics. Arsenal defence not fit for champions league. AVB respected enough to attract right players. Harry had to go, good decisipn by chairman, h respect had been lost by players.

Can you say the same about modric or vdv and if you hadn't been so loud last season about how good you are and how shite we are then we would t be putti g you back in your place ( behind us) mugs

That's five minutes of my life I've just wasted. I'm going to hunt you down for that. My 8 year old son could have written a more critical analysis of the situation.

I think there are a few worried goonies out there and this article reflects that. Wanger will continue to rot this year and with no rvp they will fall apart.

Anonymous said...

Arsenal fans should only be worried about arsenal not spurs, sacking redknapp was exactly what spurs needed. Under redknapp spurs would have ended up like the local social club with players well past their peak. Redknapp was clueless on tactics and gave arsenal 3rd spot.

Interesting read. As a Yid,I'm not going to join the rest of the Tottenham Hotspur fans in moaning. You're entitled to your opinion just like everyone else. However, I would like to point out that we've already shipped off fringe players in order to gather up what is expected to be a fairly handsome transfer budget for the arrival of AVB. With Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson expected imminently, I see no reason as to why we can't compete with the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool for that last Champions League spot again. With any luck, our regular starting for Premier League matches will looking 'something' like the following: Friedel; Walker, Caulker, Kaboul, Vertonghen; Sandro, Parker; Lennon, Sigurdsson, Bale; Adebayor.
I'm not getting carried away, I don't expect miracles, however with Vaart unable to play for a whole ninety minutes, plus Luka Modric desperate to leave and also unable to provide enough goals or assists, AVB (Or whoever the new manager will be) will have the ability to replace them effectively.

lmao I had my first season ticket at Arsenal in 1968, my folks moved so I ended up going to school in Tottenham, I still do a 200 mile round trip for every game at the Emirates, I still hate Spurs.

However, this has to be one of the most limp and ridiculous articles I've ever read. That's another website confined to the trash...

I like to have a laugh at the spuds like the next gooner but we know they'll be in the top ten. What I find funny is all twat spuds getting angry at a throw away blog before the season's even started. Saying stupid meaningless things like the mightly Arsenal is in your shaddow? Is that the two league cups in twenty years, or the haven't finished higher than us in how many seasons shadow? You had a chance last season and you bottled it, you should be used to that. And there's no point acting all hard from behind a keyboard because it really makes you look idiots. Enjoy Thursday night football.

GoonerForLife said...

Ummm, I don't see it that way actually and AVB may not be such a bad appointment. If anything we should be wary of tottenham because they have the ability to appoint someone with better tactical ability that twichy.

Redknapp said the next manager who takes over will have a team able to win the epl.He said Spurs cou;d win the epl at the beginning of 2012 and look what happened.
I hope managers who have left will maintain a discreet silence .If Spurs fail not only to gight for the epl but are unable to mount a challenge for the cl place,Spurs ex boss will be open to ridicule.

So far, Arsenal looking set to lose their only star player, while replacing him with two overrated players who did absolutely nothing for their respective countries at Euro 12. And for the record, I wish both sets of fans would stop this petty crap and leave the rivalry for the players.

Gio said...

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Wishful thinking in the extreme matey boy. The only breakdown in North London will be when RVP quits for pastures greener and leaves you in limbo. Without RVP you wouldn't even be top 10 yourselves this year. And dont talk about Podolski or Giroud. Neither are in the same class.

A a daft article with very little substance and didn't really need to be written, unless it's a complete wind-up of the spuds. However the comments and indignation from spurs fans is brilliant, if not completely misplaced. A lot are dismissive of the article as being short on substance & fact yet don't counter with any substance or fact of their own.

Facts are that Arsenal finish above Tottenham consistently (16 consecutive seasons now I believe), Arsenal consistently finish in the top 4 and play CL football whilst Tottenham have managed CL qualification only once and Arsenal are one of only 5 teams to have won the EPL (Tottenham not being one of the other 4!!).

Every year we get the "this is our year and we'll finish above Arsenal" from Spurs and it never happens.

With the self destruct button looking like it's been pushed by Levy in sacking their only decent manager & backroom staff in recent history the trend for Arsenal to be the top North London team looks to be continued for some time to come.

Forever in our shadow.....oh & mind the gap - it could be getting much, much wider.

Lol, i remeber you from this time last yr. U said "when Fabregas goes, Arsenal goes".... Keep on dreaming son !

you spuds need to face up to a few realities.... you are a wannabe east end club who have had your most impressive season in the 21st century , while your local rivals have had their least impressive season in the 21st century . You come to the emirates , which is almost twice the size of WHL , go 2 up and look forward to leaving the home of football with a 15 point lead over us .Despite all this , you c**ts still finish below us !!!
It`s true what they say -- there is always someone worse off than yourself ***

Arsenal for life :) said...

This article may be ill advised and poorly written, and yes, Spurs have played well the last few seasons, but let's face it - Gareth Bale is not as good as everybody keeps saying, Van de Vaart can't play more than 60 minutes without needing a rest, and you don't have a manager. Apart from that, everything at white hart lane is just rosy :)

Anonymous said...

Have to say that this is taking 2+2 and making 5.

Every team, even man Cty has challenges in the off season and how they deal with those challenges will determine their final position.

Ultimately, Liverpool, Chelsea and even Man Utd may face worse problems than Spurs so, depending on how they get through the off-season, a top 4 place is entirely possible.

Wellingooner said...

Spurs fans get a taste of their own medicine. From what I see this blogger is simply copying the actions of many Spurs fans at the beginning of last season once Fabregas and Nasri left.
"Arsenal are going down-hill!"
"Arsenal aren't gonna finish in the top 10 let alone top 4!"
Where did we finish? That's right, 3rd.

Arkadiy said...

I agree with others that this article is badly written and badly thought-out. However, judging by the Sp*r's response, it looks as if they are all afraid that what it says is going to turn out to be true. Maybe the window of opportunity has just closed! Let's hope so...

Anonymous said...

Arsenal fans obsessed by Spurs???? Are you fucking serious? The most blinded contradiction known in N london. Spurs fans are Obsessed by Arsenal. Do Spurs fans not see that. "mind the gap" "2 nil an you fucked it up" the untold amount of mugs, t shirts, facebook postings. When ever we lose, sign a player, Spurs fans are always there to try an ridicule or laugh at us. Your like the ugly sister constantly wanting bad luck on the pretty sister. Inferiority complex, which doesnt help the team one bit. Concentrate in your own game, oh ad do mind that gap.

Anonymous said...

So what if RVP goes? We'll just get On with it as usuall. You lot have got to go back to the drawing board, again! Do you think you can get any better that under Redknapp? Spurs fans clInging to the "oh RVP is leaving" we had it with Henry/fabregas etc and you know what, we still finish above you every season. Every season! 50 years since you won the league and spurs fans have the audacity to ridicule our silver ware? Thats fucking disgraceful, 50 years! MIND THE GAP.

Anonymous said...

What a profound article. You'd flourish on a greater platform and soon gain a wider following. Good too to see it not selfishly restricted to a narrow circle but a wisdom you are prepared to shared with others.

Interesting that most of the comments are by spuds who are stating the article is 'bollocks' but don't state why. Moan that a gooner is 'obsessing' over their team yet the majority of postings here, on a gunner site, are by spuds. Apparently they get insulted at an opposition supporter stating the bleeding obvious totally oblivious to the FACT their team is in the shit due to the departing players and sacked manager who put them in a strong position last season. All you they have left is Bale the diving chimp. Oh dear.

As a Gooner I would like to say that his article has either been written by a wind-up merchant or someone who lives in fantasy land. I hate to see reasoned discussion and general football banter reduced to this sort of pathetic level. All teams have fans who are guilty of this sort of tripe, best just ignore it and look for sites with a little more intelligence. Jesus!

Wenger should go and buy Gareth Bale. Just like when he bought Sol Campbell. He'd give us just what we need down that wing, and enable the left mid to play inside and protect Jack.

Splendid post sir I must say! I do take a bow for the comments you have bestowed upon our nation and all the spurs' ignoramus' that have flocked to an Arsenal blog to read the. They simply cant get enough of us cant they!

These banal yid cretins must grasp their history does not warrant a place in the echelons of our top flight division. And their history also suggests mild success for a team of their standing (such as their current top four finishes in recent seasons) followed by plenty of false dawns and mediocrity.
