Hleb's agent latest: “Real and Barca in the frame too”

By Aries

It was only last week or so that Hleb’s agent, Nikolai Shpilevsky, put the spanner in the works by stating that his client wanted a move away from Arsenal and probably to Inter Milan.

“Alex is preparing to make one of the most important moves of his life. “He is leaving even though Arsenal want to offer him a new long-term contract.

“Only time will tell if it is the right decision but there’s no way back now. Everything will be settled in the next two weeks” he said.

Wenger’s reaction has been emphatic and predictable.

“Nobody goes. It’s that simple. It’s about what is good for the club.”

Now back comes the response. In an interview in the Belarusian paper “Комсомольская Правда” Helb’s agent states that there are other teams also interested for the player’s services.

“A player of Hleb’s class is interesting to a lot of teams like Barcelona and Real but he has a valid contract with Arsenal and if any team wants to sign him then they will have to negotiate with his club”

When asked whether Hleb will end up with Inter Milan he was coy about commenting:

“I have no words to say about Hleb going to Inter". He has a contract with Arsenal”.

Hleb has already flown to Minsk where next week will join the preparations of the national team for their international friendly game against Germany.

His brother Vyacheslav Gleb of MTZ-RIPO Minsk is also in the squad.

  1. I think Arsenal fans are resigned to losing Hleb this summer. He is a fabulous player and we always play better when he is in the team, as does Cesc, but he doesnt score goals and he can be replaced.

It is good that lots of clubs are interested...we can auction between them and get the best deal. Also, with our limited funds, we could try a cash plus player route. I for one would be happy if we got Cambiasso to replace Flamini if Hleb goes to Inter

  2. Limited funds???? Don't believe everything the British press say about Arsenal. They have been proven over and over again to be clueless.

  3. Or Yaya + TH14 swap deal. Play Henry left, Adebayor centre and Van Persie on the right....

  4. Hleb flew to Alicante this weekend as my mate spoke to him, my friend works on passport control and he asked Hleb if he was staying at AFC. Hleb said he didn't know. If he is in or going to Minsk then was the Alicante trip an holiday?

  5. Now he comes to terms. Thankfully to AW remarks he understands now that he is in a contract with Arsenal.

AW should play him in the reserves for two terms and then release him for all the agents to understand that he need to think before they speak.

I'm hoping we'll 'lose' Hleb this summer and I know I'm not the only Gooner praying he'll fúck off.

You're probably not, but I think you are in a minority group.
Hleb is a gifted individual who always thinks progressively in his build up play and is meticulous in his approach to breaking through stubborn defenses...which we face on a regular basis.

It is unfortunate, and quite frankly sad, that many fans' memories of specific players are diluted by their off-field decisions and allegiances. This is not only the case with Hleb but also with Flamini.

Hleb is a great player anyone who disputes that is blind or resentful. So he is not clinical in front of goal...every player has specific weaknesses, it is the redeeming qualities which distinguish great players from the distinctly average. He is a fantastic dribbler, intelligent and decisive with his final ball.

So even though there may be many fans calling from him to jump out of the door, I am certainly not one of them.

  8. For all of Hleb's qualities, I think he should go, and we should get as much money as we can.

I don't trust him to stay motivated if his move does not materialise, and Theo can provide more goals and assists than Hleb.

  9. Hleb has never said he was leaving - only his agent has, and that it standard practice (and it is noticeable that his agent is saying something quite different this week from last week). Let's not pre-judge the situation as many have.

He is one of the best players in the league and anyone who seriously wants to lose him is crazy

  10. Its sad to see a player of such class leave. He is probably the best dribbler in Europe.

WENGER and the board have to wake up to the fact that this group of players have proved themselves hence they deserve competitive pay packets.

If Rosicky and Van P had not bee injured we probably would have won the league or we would be talking about them leaving.

CESC will leave next season and its all down to WENGER and the Board for being stingy. The best signing he would have made this year is to keep this group together but appears blind no wonder he cannot see fouls at times as alleged by the English media!!
