Bischoff:"I will start in the Arsenal reserves”

By 1970’s Gooner

This is indeed a typical Arsene Wenger signing. Bischoff is only 21, has never played a single Bundesliga game in the Werden Bremen first team since his three years there and therefore no one has really ever heard of him.

His only professional deployment was against Celta Vigo in the Uefa Cup quarter-final 2006/07.

Yet Wenger will scoop up the player for next to nothing and hopefully turn him into a decent if not world class player in a few years. Sounds a lot like a “Flamini” type of signing to me.

Wenger has certainly convinced the player that he is really valued which is half the battle won in trying to get him to aim at the highest excellence level possible.

"He trusts me and believes in my qualities" Bischoff said and that was enough to make him reject a new deal and contract proposed by his club.

“Werder would like Bischoff to stay and we would be happy with him. But he has decided to set up a new challenge. Against Arsenal, Werder had no chance” said Werden’s Chief Executive, Klaus-Dieter Fischer.

Bischoff whose father is French and his mother from Portugal has already played for the U18s for France. He was also in the Portugal squad for the U-20s!

"Some details still need to be clarified," said Bischoff. "Above all we are waiting for the return of Arsène Wenger.

"I am hopeful that I will sign in the next few days. Arsenal is a step up in comparison to Werder. "I think I will first play in the reserves in order to be fit. Then it's up to me, to gain my place in the Premier League team"

  1. Think some people have been a bit harsh on "The Hoff".

He may be injury prone; but a certain left back was pretty injury prone and now he's playing more games per year than anyone else.

If Wenger gets him; I have faith in him.

    Long live "The Hoff".

  5. many ppl said amaury would block progress of younger player such as randall, landsbury and merida. for the record, i rated all those youngster highly but they certainly need at least 1 or 2 more seasons before they ready to push for 1st team. amaury would be back up for 1st team because he can play in many positions. last season with rosicky, rvp and eduardo injured we don't have enough cover for left side. amaury can also play centrally if needed and i bet wenger may use him in fullback if needed( i heard he can tackle and defend well). about how good he is, just wait until he play few games.
