Fan demands public apology from Arsene Wenger

This is one of the many rants that were posted on the site right after the defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi final. The main point the commenter is making is that Arsene Wenger gave Chelsea too much respect.

By Anonymous

If we had lost with our two best players on the pitch then we would have no complaints. To lose with the Ash and Naz on the bench is hard to take.

I do not blame the goalkeeper. The blame lies with the all knowing Mr Wenger who gave the chavs too much respect.

He failed the team today with his selection. He undid all the good work of the past months with his cowardly team selection.

The chavs were there for the taking and we bottled it because of Mr Wenger and his cowardly team selection. I hope he rediscovers his balls in the coming weeks or we shall have to chop them off because he is not using them when picking his team.

He has ruined everyone's weekend and we demand a public apology from Mr Wenger for leaving two of our best players sitting on the bench and for filling our hearts with hope only to break them with his cowardly team choice for such an important game.

I don't want Mr Wenger out. I want him to stay true to his beliefs and send out Arsenal teams to play our attacking football and to not worry about the opposition.

Come on Mr Wenger, grow some fu*king balls for fu*ks sake!

Typical example of the new generation of fickle fans. The lesser number of them, the better. I am depressed by the result I acknowledge Wenger messed it up completely, but asking a manager to apologize over a result is pure madness. Perhaps they might start contemplating to ask Wenger to hang himself should he loses another match.

God sake man, we all feel bad about the defeat. Why do Arsenal supporters always beat them shelves up. Ultimately we lost becuase our back four, hadnt played together and couldnt contain the chelsea forwards, also we had the usual dramatics from Drogbr and Lampard.

KingKolo said...

I tottally agree. He bottled it big time. It is an unforgivable team selection and even the player like Arshavin, Nasri and Song who missed out from the starting line-up would not be forgiving the manager anytime soon

I agree that the team selection was wrong from Wenger but it did not cost us the game. What cost us were defensive and goalkeeping errors. The first was Eboue giving too much time and space to Malouda and Fabianski being beaten at the near post. The second was Silvestre being out paced and out muscled by Drogba and Fabianski coming out of the box when he didn't need to. Overall it was a disappointing cup tie which was slow and lacked tempo. I blame the pitch for this as it was terrible. After a great start by Arsenal with plenty possession and composure it suddenly turned into a panicky performance. The boys must put this game behind them and now focus on a big game on Tuesday against Liverpool.

He doesnt owe us anything.

We lost because of the injuries substained to our back 4.

The only one bottling it was the fans - pathetic as usual and the early leavers (what was your excuse this time).

Anonymous said...

we should give credit to our team...4 out of five of our first choice backline were injured..as for arshavin..i believe that wenger kept him on the bench as hiddink knows his game all to well and would know how to neutralize him..leaving us at a disadvantage..screw all you wenger bashers...arsenal are arsenal because of him...IN ARSENE WE TRUST

Anonymous said...

Totally Wengers fault. A truly awful choice of team (he chose Diaby just for his size for gods sake)! A headless chicken of a keeper (and he is ALWAYS the same). Two defenders who are very poor quality - Eboue and Silvestre. Yes, we have a lot of injuries but if we have to rely on Silvestre against Moan U in the CL we are screwed. Wenger knows best my ar*e!

Anonymous said...

what's the point in publishing this? it carries no information or insight, just more purile bleating from ignorant fools who need to get some perspective! Disappointing.

Anonymous said...

There was one decision I wasn't expecting - Diaby instead of Arshavin. That was it, and that didn't cost us the game. I'm angry and disappointed, but with a flat performance that did us no justice, not with AW.

I'd rather win the Champion's League anyway...

Anonymous said...

Is any one sure that we might not have lost with AA23 and Nasri on the pitch? I think they must have discussed this strategy in training. What AW did was good. If you remember the VR game, where as Nasri was on the pitch, he spent much of his time helping out Gibbs. On Saturday, i don't think AA23 would have done a good job in the midfield like Diaby did.
The only mistake AW did was not to make substitutions much earlier. However we were only undone by the injuries in defense. Had Sagna been on the pitch, the first Chelski goal would have been avoided, had Gallas been present, the second goal would not have gone in.

Wenger failed to make changes when it was obvious we needed sum pace in the mf but he leaves denilson in who doesnt instil much confidence in the back 4.song should have started to deal with chelsea physical edge.other coaches make subs when things are going wrong.when i saw the lineup i was abit pesimistic!i want to believe that we'l bounce back 4m this defeat but confidence wise i think it will knock us off our rails..this has been the downturn of all wengers team.i so hope am wrong!

Wenger clearly prioritised Tuesday over the FA Cup. Disappointing but not entirely suprising and to my mind justified. Perhaps what the author really meant to say was that we'd all be a lot happier if we were told this in advance so we could save the time, effort and money.

'he doesnt owe us anything' - i take issue with this. I love the club, and have been paying for my season ticket year on year for many years. I pay £1200 a season. That money sits in the bank, earning interest, because le boss believes that we dont need to buy players. Well, i disagree. I say we have needed a new centre back for about 5 yeras. And the arrogance with which he announced that he 'could still surprise us all' when he signed mikael silvestre at the end of the summer was astounding. So 'yes', he does owe us. He owes us for years of NOT buying centre backs, which came to the fore again yesterday. If we'd have had one fit central defender alongside Kolo yesterday, we could have played with song and arsha from the start, and we migth still have lost, but at least we'd have played OUR FOOTBALL before doing so.

Yesterday was a disgrace from before the whistle blew until the point that our inexperienced defence cocked up again and again and again; which only happened because we do not have the personnel, even though they've been taking our money for years.

So if they dont want to spend our money on having a big enough squad, then at least have the ablls to reducec the prices, because its one thing to screw us over on the pitch, they dont have to do it off the pitch too.

Anonymous said...

The team selection was designed to provide us with some extra muscle, which ultimately did not work. To demand an apology is absurd, we lost because of inept defending and because of a keeper who was overawed by the occassion.

Anonymous said...

Sign. What if he wins 3-0 without Arshavin and Nasir? People will call him genius Wenger? He put in Diaby to protect the back 4. Silvestre is horrible, so is Eboue. He should stop Malouda.

Unknown said...

Omg. this had gone too far.. we know wenger screwed it up big time.. that was it... public apology??? i don't think so.

Anonymous said...

For once as a gunner fan,i disagree with professor tactics or whatever, why on earth did he prefer denilson to song in dm?kept AA and Nasri on the bench, allowed inconsitence diaby for full 90 minutes on the pitch,AW spoilt my night that i had to asked my wife not to serve me my dinner,i still love him(AW)but i will not tolerant this kind of gamble against manu in CL semi final.i remain gooner for life, even unto death.

Anonymous said...

To be honest im so shocked that he didnt sub denilson sooner. or that he didnt substitute diaby at all. both unfortunately were having bad games and the way song has been doing more recently. yeah he can have dodgy games but at half time i would have subbed diaby for him because he look lost on the pitch and made lampard look like a good defensive midfielder! to be honest i was suprised about arshavin and nasri not playing till the last 70 mins. both who are very influential players. but the funny thing for me was that pitch. it is a shambles and to be considered the national stadium with a pitch like that it quite S*** lol

How wrong was it for Sillyvester to get a red card for fouling Didi.
I throw my blame to Wenger and his compatriot Sillyvester but not Fabianski coz at times you take a risk like he did if you are were to save your side from hummiliation.
Sell Silly for free and bring back Senderos instead.

Anonymous said...

shedzy.....I totally agree.

We all know Silvestre, Eboue and Fabianski aren't good enough. These are all players bought by the manager. The fact United allowed Silvestre to leave for such a small fee to one of their rivals speaks volumes. He wasn't good enough to play for United so why are we suprised when he doesn't come up to scratch with us. It all boils down to Wenger doing everything on the cheap. I've had a season ticket for 20 years i live in Highbury, I was at wembly and i'll be there in 20 years time but we are being sold a lie. We're so close to being a top side i know we had a catalogue of injuries at the back but surely we should have more quality replacements to come in. We haven't won a trophy for four years and we're in a semi final of the fa cup and he leaves Arshavin out (who has been outstanding since he joined) on the bench!!! Surely we would've had a better chance of winning if we had played our best team ie Nasri, Arshavin and Song??? It's an Fa cup semi final against one of our rivals, what is he saving them for. Yesterday drummed into me the fact that we aren't far away from having a great team but our weakness' were once again exposed.

Men, i am damn disappointed in all of u, i can only accept some points in which some of u has mentioned, others are just talking rubished.

If it possible to sack him today, i mean Wenger, he should fucking go men, you people don't realised that he is playing over our emotions. Tell me, what are we playing for, to win premierships, or shampions league, yesterday match could've gives us a cup this season, fine, our defenders all out because of injuries, but we have those that can win the match for us yesterday. Useless Chelsea players new they can't stand us when is to play football, that was why they started playing long ball, because they knew that we have no competent defender that could deal with their long ball. Also, AW, refused as usuall, sturborn goat, to change players, Diaby, Denilson are most asholes, yet, he did nothing about it. ASH is not illegible to play champions league, so what is Wenger's problem for not playing the brilliant player like Ash and Nasir, to me, you guys can say all the shits in this world, Wenger is our problem.

Anonymous said...

In Wenger we trust my foot, the man is not in the world of football, he is in another planets. Even, a manager that got no experienced like Wenger would not make that stupid mistakes that he made yesterday, SONG on the bench, ARSHAVIN on the bench and NASIR on the bench, then played the most useless players like Diaby and Denilson, what a manager, i said it before and i will say it agian, we can never win anything with Wenger again, unless, maybe he change his attitude and less his stubbornness

Anonymous said...

Well I'm disappointed we lost too but this "fan" needs to grow the hell up and have a large refreshing cup of "get over yourself".

Anonymous said...

the same defence did okay in villareal, i know villareal isnt as much as a threat as chelsea but why fix the midfield if it aint broken. We have a chance to win the fa cup; finally after 4 years!
the reason we lost is cost we had a pathetic 2 shot on target, 2-3 corners for the whole of 90min while chelsea have 9 shots on target with one hitting the post. The formation was wrong and puts pressure in our defense, our best form of defense is attack, if we attack, their defense and cech who has been woeful recently will be under pressure.

And not starting ARSHAVIN(one of the best offensive player in epl, dare i say)or nasri; Absolutely insane that i'm crying just for the thought of not playing your best players! Once arshavin enters the pitch you can see 2 chelsea players swarming around him frantically leaving cesc open and moving forward more effectively. And cech was also getting nervous when arshavin swung in the freekick and corner.
Maybe arsene dont owe us fans any apology but he do owe us an explanation why arshavin/nasri didnt start. Why the substitution took so bloody long, how diaby slots right back into the squad when he has never played well against big english teams. Why rest song when he is the best dm and the biggest game of this season's magnitude so far.

And the offensive interview he gave which he says "When you are so close and you are only 20 years of age, I don’t know why you should be desperate to win something straight away". Now that is an insult to as fans who are desperate and have waited so long for our team to do well. He just wants the best for his 20 years old players and treat us like shite.
With that quote it's no wonder we dont have that winning mentality of the chelseas and manU.

the blame lies with wenger. every website and newspaper i read said drogba would murder that excuse sylvestre. as for eboue . a cowardly player who should not be in an arsenal shirt. was i saw the teamsheet with those 2 tossers in the team i knew we were doomed

Anonymous said...

can someone just ask that loser wenger don't keep using excuses for losing a match..wembley is Arsenal old stadium,Arsenal have been unbeatable in this stadium before and now he can say cos' of the field ,they lost?!!! it don't even make any sense as the opponent also never use this field to play in their previous matches. Can this loser Wenger wake up from all his sissy lame excuses!! Such a DISGRACE to a club.

Anonymous said...

Some fair points. Yes I think Song should have played in the middle and Arshavin should have started but to ask for an apology from Wenger is the biggest load of shit i've heard. The players have to take some responsibility too. Diaby was so poor as was Adebayor as was (dare i say it) Fabregas not to mention the obvious howler from Fabianski which was the main reason we didn't at least go to extra time where perhaps our youth and fitness would have given another result. We were also very limited at the back and a lot was asked of the players. Gibbs was ok but no Clichy and gave the ball away, Eboue has proved he is better suited as a midfield player and gave Malouda too much time and Silvestre was good but nothing like Gallas who would not have been muscled off the ball for the 2nd goal. Toure was immense incidentally.
On with Man U in the Champions League and less stupid whinging from fans we don't need and really don't understand much about football

Anonymous said...

i agree wengers got no balls.... id have started with asrhavin, nasri and song... slapped them in the first half then brought on more defensive players in the second half.... arsenals team is the best in the country shame due to a two season long injury nightmare we are starting to become a joke

Anonymous said...

Lads, Arsenal didn't win yesterday, but anyone who thinks it was down to cowardice is too dumb even for words.

Wenger had to play Diaby in midfield, instead of Nasri or Arshavin, because they are both too small to play against Chelsea. Imagine Arshavin marking Ballack at a corner. Are you f*ckin mad?

Anonymous said...

I see the real reason why Arsenal lost the game was Chelsea knew the weak point of Arsenal. High ball to the back of the defence line! Chelsea always use this and always it works against Arsenal.

Anonymous said...

You dont drop your best players for big games. Simple.

Behind van Persie, Arshavin has been our best player this season.

The fact he didn't play yesterday was criminal. Wenger threw the game with that decision.

I think I actually HATE Denilson.

THIS!

And, Didier Drogba. Until we have a CB who can keep this man quiet (e.g. Vidic) we'll always struggle against them.

I can see you all dun even know the game, what Arsene Wenger concerned is the size of the player at centre midfield. If you know opposite will filed Lampard and Ballack, of course you won't fill up small size player like Naz and Ars... To get the control of midfield is then you can organise, unfortunately, Diaby and Denilson din't make it... sad... but if is not the **** keeper, we should go all the way to final...

Anonymous said...

Now this is the fair weather gooner fans that i have come to despise.
Only two days ago-Wenger was your hero!!!
Sad actually--truly pathetic.

let's just accept that what we witnessed was BOYS vs MEN.

What we miss are players like Vierra,Petite(sp) Edu,Parlour,Keown,Adams, Ashley Cole. We had Flamini and diarra and let them go!! Berkhamp (sp) for all of his skill, was ruthless in the tackle!

What we have now is all style and no mental or physical toughness. And before you slam me, I ask that you to go back to the record books and look at our teams when we where winning trophies. Look at the names on the starting team sheet. There was a blend of skill and toughness. What we have now is this obsession with looking pretty and the last time that I checked, no awards are handed our for style.

Real Madrid rue the day that they let Makele go because of money--well documented stuff. they have been desperately attempting to correct that mistake and wallah, they now have Diarra (we had him).

We let Flamini go because of money--again the makelele scenario surfaces. He allowed the skill players to play and he did the tackling, the tracking and disrupting and he was technically sound enough to find a skill player after he won the ball.

The last time that I checked this was a team sport and the successful teams win based on putting the right player with the right attributes in the right spot.

We had that and yes, we where not as pretty as we are now, but all we did was win trophies. Well it's been 5 years and all we do is get more skillful and younger. Nice on the eyes but if I wanted that I would buy season tickets to the ballet.
Look, I think Wenger is a GREAT Manager but I trust that one day he will wake after a restful sleep and get back to that formula that once worked.

Man United and Chelsea win because they have that blend. Skill and toughness. Youth and experience.
Chelsea:
Ballack-Lampard-Essien wore down our youthful skill players--just physically wore them down. And they had the requisite skill to do something with he ball when they won it.
Vieria and co would have matched them and won that battle
Terry and Alex completely dominated Van Persie and Adebayor--just to strong and committed.
Walcott was having some success against Cole and then Chelsea sent two and that was that.
Berkhamp would have been mobile and able to handle their tough treatment.
Drogba was just to pwerful for Toure and Sylvetre--but he destroyed Sanderos in the past. he would 'got nothing, against Adams and Keown--nothing.

Sorry for the run on--we have the bones --we just need to add a little meat.

Anonymous said...

makes me laugh, thought everyone would get bored moaning about eboue, hes a good cover for sagna at right back, personally the biggest let down yesterday was cesc, diaby broke down more chelsea attacks won more defensive headers and joined in with more attacks, he is so slow cant tackle and cant header, but can pass the ball when he has time, which he didnt have yesterday, if eboue or bedtner played that badly the boo boys would be booing again, we rely on the little fella too much, should have swapt him for nasri, and left diaby on

Anonymous said...

Sure we lost yesterday, and I think Arsen dropped a brick in his team selection but to call for a public apology is being unreal,
We lost due to Fabanski being over awed by the occasion, two mistakes cost us two goals.

Personally I think Arshavin and Song should have both started along with Nasri with Theo on the bench untill the second half, Adebayor as usal played like a big wanker who knows noting about the offside rule and for all his size is pussy with a hopless first touch.

Move on to Tuesday and Liverpool and hope that during the summer some fool from Spain gives us 20 million for Adebayor.

Anonymous said...

Wenger shouldn't apologise as such, but he should explain why Arshavin, Nasri and Song were rested. I know we play Liverpool on Tuesday, but 4th place is safe now, we're not going to win the league. Maybe we can get up to 3rd, maybe even 2nd if results go our way, but does that justify throwing an FA Cup Final away?

I feel sorry for Denilson and Diaby, who had to battle Essien and Ballack, depite neither player being a typical ball winner. Song would have been perfect, and would have given us a chance of winning the midfield battle, which really decided the game. Fabianski's errors were pretty terrible, it wasn't his fault alone that we lost, but I do doubt whether he is an Arsenal quality 'keeper though.

I wonder what Wenger will have to say for himself if we get beaten by the bin dippers on Tuesday.

I think whoever wrote this is a twat

Arshavin nor Nasri, defend...if they are on the field, who protects Gibbs...Chelsea would have run riot down the right side...The truth of the matter is that at some point we will accept that none of the current group can provide the required defensive ability that will allow Fabergas to get in more offensive areas of the field. His performances against most of the other teams don't matter. It's what he gives Arsenal against the big boys and they have been wanting.
WE haven't replaced Flamini-he was the glue!!!!

Song has had good performances agaisnt average teams...he is no match for Ballack-Essien-Gerrard-Alonso-Carrick-Giggs.
Flamini on the other hand did reasonably well against those teams. We just don't have the bite in the middle of the park.

wenger threw away our FA cup this season. the only opportunity for arsenal to get a trophy. for champions league, it is very hard because we can't field arshavin. and we should face man utd in home and away game. for EPL, surely we can't win it. because we have a big gap between a league leader, so no dream at all to win the premiership. the one, and only one opportunity is FA cup, which take place in neutral ground, and we has additional player who is fresh because not play in champions league. but, why wenger mess it up? why not starting arshavin, song, nasri? if he want to rest some players, arshavin must not in the list because he not play against villareal. denilson and diaby play like retarded vs chelsea. the only player who wants arsenal win that semifinal game only theo walcott. the rest just only running on the pitch. wenger, you should admit your fault. you must fielding the strongest squad, not the black monkey diaby, or pig face denilson.
we can win the game 3-0 if arshavin play. sure. but wenger don't want a win. he just want to gamble his side, you are asshole wenger. make a world of arsenal fans feel very sad.

Anonymous said...

Its not often Wenger gets it wrong, but this time,he got it drastically wrong, this decision making with the team selection and subs was on par with Fabianski's performance in goal, both of them had a complete mare.
I'm completely stumped as to why Song was not playing, He has been so strong for us in midfield this seson, plus he covers so well in front of the defence. i would of always had him playing instead of Diaby.
But to take off Adebayor and Van-Perse, (alright they weren't having a the best of games, but they can win you games!)and leaving on Diaby, who's performance yesterday was at best very poor, (he might be able to break up play, but his distribution is very poor) and Silvestre, who has the pace of a snail, dumbfounds me.
On a positive note Gibbs had an outstanding game, Theo was always causing them problems with his pace, and Denilson also had a good game, i do feel, to many players let the occasion get the better of them.
It was a poor performance by the team, but its done now. The boys now need to get there heads right for Tuesday, we have a big game against Liverpool and an even bigger game the following Wed against Man. U in the Champions League, who also went out of the cup today on pens, (thats the biggest smile ive had on my face this weekend lol) we need to get back behind the team again, and be the twelve man, which i know we will do.
I disagree Wenger needs to apologise to us, hes made us the team we are today!
We have been extremely unlucky with injuries this season, but where still in there, and this could be a very good end of season for us, lets hope we can get some of our boys back as soon as poss. One last point, i was disgusted with the pitch, Wembley is supposed to be our national stadium, that pitch was a digrace......

Arsene Wenger has done it time and time again. On the big games, even in the Carling Cup semi-finals, he picks the wrong team. I think he's been at Arsenal too long and we need a change. Nice football and no cups! What's the point? And do we really think the likes of Fabregas are going to stay playing for an Arsenal team that has not really got the bottle in the big games. Win a trophy? Forget it! We haven't got what it takes.

There's only a handfull of true Arsenal fans who have posted here. What are we becoming? We play great football within a self sustaining budget. That's how it is here. That's how it works here. 1/ We don't bankrupt the club with signings. 2/ We buy and develop potential. 3/ We're building a great side. We just lost an FA Cup semi final to a club with limitless resources, playing without 4 of our back 5.
Is that such a disaster? It happened, get over it. 4/ The target is the Champions League and that has been obvious for some time. Get some defenders back and we have a great chance. Stop writing poisonous crap and back your club. We are Arsenal. Arsenal.

I agree with this. Also, I am getting very bored with this dreary "I wuz a gooner since I wuz a baby" view, that criticizes any such comments as being disloyal. The fans should be loyal, the players should work hard and the manager should do the same. Wenger is good, but has flaws: his preference for buying tricky midfielders over sold defenders and defensive midfielders. He made a mistake here, and I forgive him, but he has to learn from this game in particular and the season on general. We have a clear issue in talent in defence. We also have a general issue is players working off the ball (Adebayor, Diaby in particular). Nasri and Arshavin are skilful and they work hard and they should have played. RVP is a great stiker, but he does not carry the ball well and the Russian boy is better as a second striker.

to think Arshavin didn't play because Hiddink "knows his game" is ridiculous - if that were true Ronaldo would NEVER play -everyone knows his game! Plus it wasn't to "give Gibbs cover" - Gibbs spent much of the game up near their penalty area as one of our better attacking players, hardly cowering in his boots at the back! Arsene had no answer to the poor showing of RvP and Ade against Terry & co, No answer at all other than to swap them for like players! In my opinion Wenger has lost something. His tactics are poor, he used to change the game at half time and we'd always come out better. Also, I think he's lost his legendary eye for talent. This team is a watered-down version of the invincibles, bought at bargain prices - and it largely shows. This season, Arsenal = 50% poor and 35% ok with 15% lucky/amazing results. Not good enough. 7/10

I agree!
If it's not broken, don't fix it!!!
Wenger and ONLY Wenger must take the blame for this one!
Where was Arshavin, Song and Nasri?!

All this talk about " we lost because we didn't have our back 4" is ridiculous to be honest, it played a part, but at the end of the day a gae is played orver 90 minutes, we lost the battle to chelsea, we couldn't control the game after we conceded a goal, which lead to constant pressure which eventually lead to mistakes

People are looking at things too black and white, thinking that we would have won the game if it wasn't for mistakes, when in all honesty, we were never in control of the game, and didn't create enough chances, the fact we only had one shot on target after theo's goal pretty much sums up how ineffective we were on the day, we were always in danger of losing the game with only a 1-0 lead with no attacking threat...

Let's cool down guys and think about it. We have 4 games in 10 days (Wigan 11 Apr till Liverpool 21 Apr). Despite all said about the players being pro, they still tire especially. We cannot help about the defence due to injuries. We were worried about them during the Villareal game, weren't we? It just so happens our fears were realised in this Chelsea game.

1. Arshavin on the bench is probably more on adding physical strength in midfield and VP can help out more defensively. AA in if there is a deadlock or if we are winning, it would be bonus to save him fresh for the Liverpool game.

2. Song on the bench is most probably with the Liverpool game in mind and also AW's confidence in Denilson to do a job. Unfortunately, Denilson did not perform for this game. (The bright side is that AW can recognise the limitation of poor Denilson and use him as a squad player rather than a first teamer).

3. Nasri... well, I think he probably is rested as he had played a number of games and he probably would not be able to help out Gibbs.

Personally, Diaby and Denilson did not perform well. I thought they could at least provide help for Silvestre who is playing his 2nd game in 3 days, after a long layoff.

Also, we saw numerous long balls to Adebayor. How many did he win against Alex?

Personally I felt Walcott played his heart out. Unlike VP or Denilson who fell after pushed off the ball (albeit a little too easily and often), I was surprised Walcott managed to hold his own. When he was felled, he immediately got up and fought to recover the ball. (I do recognise VP was trying his best to help Gibbs and on a few occassions was playing like a mad man to recover the ball)

Denilson seems a bit down these days especially after the captain is back and Song in form. He needs a bit of mental strength to challenge for his place.

Something really interesting...

I made the father in law watch the game and he has never watched a football match in his life.

His comment after 15 minutes was: The red team seem really young, the blues look older and more mature. I think they will win....

Sad but our beloved Arsenal just dont have it to make the final cut. We did not create hardly any chances, in a fa semi final!!!! comon wenger feckin sort it out

I've read some of the comments regarding the chelski defeat and most point finger at wenger and his team selection. This is natural since the buck stops with him, but demanding apology is abit extreme.

However, some of the explanations from fans as to why we lost both varied confused. We arsenal fans know very well the frailties in this Arsenal team, but we choose to kid ourselves thinking the team can soldier on despite these problems.

I think we lost against chelski beacuse of a numbers of issues with the squad. They are:

1. You can't ignore the injuries to key defenders and keeper. The absence of Sagna hurt the team alot becuase hes been our most consistent defender. Personally, i would rather have him at CB than Silves. Silvestre as a cover is simply not good enough, hes just too slow. I would rather have Djorou with one leg and in a wheelchair. Wenger should'nt signed silves becuase of one simple reason: hes not good enough for Man UTD so why sign him.

2. Eboue and Denilson are not arsenal quality and we've known for time. At top level you need specialist players. These two have potential to do everything and masters of nothing. Denilson kept giving the ball away and could not tackle to save his life. Fabianski wasn't clever either, but needs more first team action.

3. The squad as a whole is unbalanced. Too many small creative players who are similar, and not enough physically strong ones. When you a team like chelsea you know you need to match them physically first, and we were just over-powered all over the pitch, especially in midfield. This is becuase there is one natural holding midfielder (Song) in the whole squad. This totally unacceptable.

4. Also, you can ignore the state of the wembley surface and its impact. But then again, this is when your battlers should see you through and some of our players did not fancy the 50/50 challanges. This is where chelseas superior power told.

5. We did not lose the game bc Arshavin and Nasri didnt start or come on earlier. There was not much wrong with the team selection. Hes just selected wrong players in midfield. Diaby and denilson were wrong choice in mid bc they are too forward minded and not enough steel. I think Arshavin could've made much impact bc we were losing the battle in midfield. As for Nasri, well, he hasn't been playing well for weeks.

6. And finally, lack of Henry type striker. Apart from Walcott, there is not much pace upfront. This very important becuase arsenal style relies on quick, slick counter-attacks. Adebayor and van persie will not provide that and we are relying on 19 year-old boy to stretch teams.

I just hope for Almunia, Sagna, Cliche and Djorou to come back fit quick, becuase we need them badly. Also, wenger must learn from the chelsea game and must not repeat tactical errors.

Man United loose but they also hold the Carling Cup and the World Club Championship trophy. They are leading the league and we have to play them in a few days.
They have rested their players and have shown in their performance against Everton that they can play the two brazilians at full back, Wellbeck and Macheda and gibson and be a match for top teams.
Wes Brown is due back in a week and Fletcher is back.
Rested Rooney,Giggs,O'Shea,Ronaldo,Van der Saar(sp)
and Carrick.
Here's my guess --Fergie doesn't really give a damn about the FA Cup with the League title and CL at stake.
They will be back to their full rotation and will have many players to call upon over the next several weeks, of course barring additional injuries.
Arsenal have key players out for the rest of the season and a glut of games coming up with a small rotation of players to choose from. Several carrying niggling injuries.
That should be arsenals concern now-not going out of the FA Cup.
Chelsea are a formidable team with a deep squad--maybe you should give them a little credit and stop whining about what could have been. It's done and dusted --move on.
There are many clubs out here that would love to have Wenger--be careful for what you ask for!!!

Now Wenger should shut the hell up. He blew the game himself. Chelsea were no match for arsenal but instead of removing Diaby who was too slow and dropping balls at an alarming rate, the fur-goat went ahead and touched the " weaken the team more button instead of strengthening the weak points". This guy sometimes i think is a psycho. if he could master the "Kill off the game then experiment afterwards instead of experiment then try to get the game if experiments have failed!!!" In other wards a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. Why can't Wenger think about Liverpool after we've played chelsea? No wonder the guy is going trophy less! Wenger for your information, the team is going into the Liverpool game demoralized following a defeat. Was it your intention to put the demoralising factor in their heads before the pool game!! These guys need to win a trophy but Wenger is thinking otherwise. A trophy would psyche them up for next season. I can assure you Diaby wasn't good enough to start that game and as it progressed he displayed he was the weak point but Wenger kept him up to the end !! Style up Wenger, we love the team but you are handling it like your personal property by turning it into a " Mere participants team rather than a big team in Europe!!!!"

Wenger got it wrong. But don't write the great man off. He is not stupid. He recently admitted to his mistakes earlier in the year and he will learn from Saturdays mistakes. We've had a fantastic couple of months. Lets not let one defeat have us fall into the behaviour of earlier in the season where the fans got on the manager and players backs. Lets give them all the support we can. We never got to a european cup final before Wenger. We're 2 games away from our 2nd european cup final in 4 seasons. Lets forget about the fa cup, our season isn't over yet

How on earth did he leave Arshavin on the bench for so long?

He let us down

The only apology we want is from dumb fucks like you who pretend to be the "voice of all gooners"!!!

Wenger got the only set-up that makes sense against Chelsea's 4-5-1 with 3 in the middle to counter Ballack, Lampard and Essien. From there he picked up 2 wide players out of the 4 available (Theo, Nasri, RvP, Arshavin), where either choice would have been acceptable.

What did you dump fucks want to play 4-4-2 and let Chelsea control the midfield?? On the other hand the ENTIRE team let us down - Fabregas, Adebayor, RvP were no shows; Eboue, Fabianski, Denilson, Silvestre and Diaby were terrible! (only Theo and Kierran deserve good words).. and we lost.

Wenger did what was expected of him and gave us a chance to win. What else should have he done, go out and play instead of our "no-show stars"??

The sense of entitlement of modern fans that leads them to demand public apologies from the manager is fascinating and quite staggeringly naive and misguided.

I refuse to believe that "Le boss" left Nas and Arsh out without good cause. they must have been nursing injuries. Although at the time I was screaming at the Tele for him to put them on. We have had another injury plagued year and lack of depth once again caused our downfall. Moving to the Emirates (although it is always denied) has resulted in the Arse sitting with "hands in the pockets and firmly planted under the seat." The spending was coiled back and the result is just hoping that our quality players stay healthy. A stronger bench squad is the recipe for championships.. Man U and Chels cases in point. Nasri was arguably the most consistent quality on the pitch all season long. He rarely plays a poor ball through. The thing is, we have Nas Fab Arsh and Theo (that's much depth when it comes to playmakers). Rosicky (will he ever be fit) is another quality playmaker. We still GREATLY require depth at CENTRAL MID and we will remain out of the trophies until we get two more in that role. Diaby looks to be on his way with some more teaching. DEPTH IN D AND DEPTH IN MID. Then bring on all comers. Eduardo should be back fit, the 1 for 10 Bendtner(at least he can score with his head-maybe he should move to central mid) should eventually pan... out I hope,. I'd love to see Henry return now that he has his Champs League glory, to return the glory to the team he loves so much. He bleeds red and white and it could happen. In that case we could swap Adebayor(who has had consistency issues this year) to Barca for him.
Denilson doesn't have it...let him go. Anyone who says he shows promise has not been watching. We have enough playmakers who are of better quality. Transfer him and get some cash for a holding mid.
Anyway, I stand behind Le Boss. He has an excellent frame to work with and i expect he will be able to strenghten it this year even though last year the team had the same issues. I trueky believe if he could spend like the other big two, we would be building a larger trophy case. There must be something going on behind the scene. Le Boss is bright and those who want him out will be sorry if their wish comes true. It will haunt the club forever.
