What a pathetic performance

By 1970’s Gooner

What a really pathetic performance. Everyone except Nasri should really feel ashamed of himself. This goes to prove what is well known in football. It doesn’t matter if you play against the lowest opposition, you simply have to play at your best to beat them.

And the Arsenal players thought that by just turning up West Brom will lie down and roll over…Maybe they thought that they will save themselves for the “real” games against Partizan and Chelsea.

Almunia, what a clown.

Wenger’s inactivity in the transfer market is coming back to haunt him. Almunia gave away the penalty and then saved it well and that would have been ok but of course he gave away two really soft goals and the three points.

This does not absolve the rest of them of course. There was no movement, no pressing down their midfielders and the passing was woeful. Very unlike Arsenal where passes are crisp, precise and penetrative.

When Nasri had the ball there was not really a player moving into position to receive it and the opponents were given the space and the time to play their game. They played well and took advantage of the gifts given to them.

I expect that against Partizan and Chelsea we will see a different Arsenal. We may even win those games…

Well good luck with that. I for one, am starting to believe that Arsene Wenger doesn't have what it takes to win anymore. I remember once when he said that he lets the team's individual ability to win games, not strategy. So there you go...not a tactician is he?

Josh, how many times have you said that to yourself? Must be a dozen times for the last few seasons. It doesn't matter how many times Almunia or Fabianski screw up, we all know Wenger has a blindspot here.
However, don't kid yourself that getting a competent keeper will solve the problems. They go much deeper. The fundanmental inability of this team to defend will mean that we will always be hamstrung in our efforts to win trophies. As long as Arsene refuses to get someone to help teach this team to defend as a team (and how much would it cost to get say Keown in? - he did a fantastic job in helping a defence get through to the champs league final setting the record for consecutive clean sheets on the way), the title will always go elsewhere.

What a waste of time this blog has become.

For some reason I bookmarked it, but all you seem to offer is constant Arsenal-bashing. When Arsenal play well and win you don't write anything when they lose you can't wait to write a piece of shit.

Anyway, time to delete this blog off my bookmarks. So long, I won't be back there's so many better blogs that have something constructive to say. Try supporting a new team in future if Arsenal bug you so much.
