Miyaichi And Frimpong the new stars in Malaysia

By 1970’s Gooner

Ok it was a run of the mill friendly in Asia. I did not expect that we will put up a super show. But there were a few noticeable performances that have to be mentioned.

Firstly Nasri, when he came on, looked disinterested. He played as though he didn’t want to be there. Maybe as time goes on he will swallow his pride and realize that Wenger means business.

Secondly Rosicky was out of touch as he was indeed on a every occasion he was trusted by Wenger last season. He needs to be shifted out of Arsenal as soon as soon as possible.

Thirdly Miayaichi was great. He is every inch a winger and a very fast one too. He will be, along with Walcott, Arsenal’s wingers for years to come. Wenger has unearthed another gem here.

Fourthly and most importantly Frimpong hardly put a foot wrong through out and looks ready to start games, even alongside Song.

He is a similar player to Song like Miyaichi is with Walcott but he does possess strength, awareness and positioning. Wins the ball and passes it. Pure and simple.

We do need to strengthen the defence. It was very shaky today, as always.

Let's see what happens in the transfer market, both in and out....

I think Rosicky did okay. His experience is still needed in the team. You failed to mention Jenkinson, whom in my opinion did good also.

In the stadium, I could see that the hot weather bothered the players. It was a good "warm up" match, nevertheless I felt the opposing team was unable to sustain any pressure on the defense, besides their smaller stature. These are not said to minimise Arsenal's superiority in any way though.

Easily there were at least 75,000 fans. The Arsenal fans were really excited to see their team Arsenal here, with a big contingent coming from Indonesia as well.

Players like Walcott, van Persie, Nasri, Arshavin, were crowd favourites, with Miyachi really interesting, doing his stuff along the flanks to excite the fans. Probably a better dribbler than Walcott. Frimpong also impressed; I like his build, so did Ramsey, Jenkinson too. Could see that Nasri was the key figure in midfield when he came on, pulling the strings... Rosicky wasnt really bad.

Denilson was poor, surprised he's still in the team.... his mistakes exposed the defense.

4 goals, that's a good warm up, and the fans loved it. One concern, I believe the team needs some tall players. We know how it was like last season...

To me nasti looked good he was trying all the tricks especially the one when vela fluffed the final shot right at the keeper . But sadly the same old story loads of good chances but missed too many. Even tho they scored 4!!!

Disagree on Rosicky and Frimpong. Everything else I agree with.

Rosicky looked lively to me, though he had a few bad touches. A return to fitness for him could be an unexpected bonus for Arsenal - it certainly wasn't an option I was counting on. Hopefully the tonsil operation will indeed eliminate his mystery illnesses once and for all, and he can get back some of his game.

Frimpong looked nervous and played too conservatively - but he only lost the ball once, so that's good. Lets see if he loosens up with some more playing time, but as of now he doesn't seem like a starter at all to me.
