Gervinho and Rosicky add the pace Arsenal needed

By 1970’s Gooner

What a fantastic away win. Not only did it provide the three crucial points it also showed that the Arsenal players are up for the fight for the CL spot. Having to dig in for 20 plus five minutes of injury time in the manner that they did bodes well for the remaining games.

Spurs on the other hand are showing fatigue and are now missing key players such as Bale, Lennon and Defoe. Are the gods looking kindly upon us? Well yes if you are not an atheist!

I tend to believe that what has given Arsenal this impetus is the sensational return to form of Gervinho and Rosicky.

Gervinho has been a revelation. He seems to have much better control of his movement and the ball. Before he was so tentative and all over the place. Above all he has shown abundant pace helping the team with goals and vital assists.

Rosicky I am delighted for him. He is a key player for Arsenal because he has two important qualities.

He always goes forward with pace rather than pass the ball sideways in order to keep possession. This makes Arsenal a more direct team and therefore much more threatening going forward.

He is also a box to box midfielder who scores goals. Arteta doesn’t score, Ramsey doesn’t score and Wilshere doesn’t score that often. A goal scoring central midfielder is a must for any team that wants to go places.

The pressure is on Spurs and Chelsea now. I expect Chelsea to win against Sunderland but I think Spurs will struggle against Everton.

Who knows we might be challenging for 2nd place soon!!!
