No wonder Carvalho is due in London for a medical

By 1970's Gooner,

Have a look at this video showing William's attributes and highlights during this past season. I expected to see skills, dribbling, setting up play and goals scored. As well as of course tackling.

The latter is all you see! Nice simple interceptions and passing the ball to those that can do more damage to the opponent.

Reminds me of Gilberto Silva....

The Spanish press are reporting that negotiations have began with Sporting Lisbon for his transfer to Arsenal.

You remember the trophies we won with the Gilberto in the side.

We will win them again.

Carvalho is needed however even with Carvalho we will win nothing with Giroud. And its heaping a lot on Alexis to come out of the gate to be as prolific as Henry.

Giroud needs to be replaced.

Difference is,this time round,Giroud is not on his own. Walcott Campbell & Sanchez,Sanogo too.Even Akpom.Loads of goals to come

poldolski shoud go up top alexis on left wallcott right giroud benchwarmer poldi best finisher arsenal have why is he always on bench

Girouds goals to game ratio very good

Anonymous said...

Giroud ratio goals to mins is not good. he's a journeyman and a perfect example of Wengers stubborness!

Unknown said...

I agree he is not prolific enough to be arsenals main striker let's be honest, a good back up player for sure

This guy remind me of Vieira! It won't be bad at all seeing him in Arsenal shirt....

Carvalho looks terrific and better in the Silva role. Can't say I've seen that kind of "creative destroyer" in an Arsenal shirt since Gilberto. As a powerful two-footed DM he deserves his price (well almost)unless the video opposition was sloppy and slow. Mind you, on that film evidence, I could see plenty of PL strikers staying on the floor in aggrieved antagonistic appeals to the ref. It would be music to my ears. And on that subject, what was the video soundtrack? Great stuff.

If Wenger sticks to Girioud, then we should forget the goals. All the fantastic midfielders we have acquired will be frustrated out by Girioud misses just as it happened to Ozil last season. Giroud is only good as a sub. Get us an experienced striker, even if it is Balotelli!

I agree but Wegner seems to like him hopefully he cheats on his wife again and she really blackmails him into moving back to France otherwise we'll b stuck with him again this season

Giroud does' nt fit for arsenal. he is a kind of bottom 10 club player .

Anonymous said...

If he was an attacking midfielder if U wanna win the league ya need a 30 goal man something that he will never be

I've been begging for Carvalho for the last 12 months. I won't believe it until I see it confirmed on arsenal.com. He'd be the perfect addition and the way he gets a foot 'in' to recover the ball reminds me more of Paddy than Silva. Whichever - I hope the rumours turn out to be true.

with giroud on the pitch, arsenal plays 10men, infact he should be loaned.

Giroud if it happened for him to be a cow i wont even try to by his meat wen slaughtered; useless striker bring in super mario.

Check out his tackle at 2:44 in the video, 2 opposition players go flying! HA! He's awesome and he makes it look so simple, kinda like Vieira.

That guy who keeps posting about Giroud not being good - I agree, but what can we do? We've got 'Alexi' *eurgh* Sanchez, Walcott (can probably get 12+ goals if not 20 depending on his old knees.

I like to think Akpom has something. Did you see him when he came on yesterday? He ran onto that through ball really well and should have got a penalty. He can do all the things Wenger wants him to - run with the ball, got pace, can shoot in or outside the box, can read the game well, make assists. Him and Sanogo or Giroud up front (little and large) could work at times.

I wish we would break teh bank. I know carvalho is very good defensively, but the defensive midfielder i would really like would be Paul Pogba. Would also be sticking it to the mancs. Get Rolls Reus for 30m+poldi, raphael varane for 20m+vermalaen, and falcao/balotelli on loan and you know even madrid will tremble at our squad sheet

Better Wenger to add 3 more signing not 2 that he talked of!
.DM
.Striker
.Carzola's back up incase he leaves!!!

**WE CAN'T RELY ON #GIROUD!!!**

I totally disagree with you. You guys must have forgotten something, Giroud has scored 33 goals is two seasons for Arsenal. That must be considered a good return. All he needs is someone to share the burden with. Presently we have Giroud, Sanogo, Sanchez, Walcott, Podolski and Campbell. I want to believe we are well covered in the striking department.

Anonymous said...

We need a striker not some idiot always on floor winging and the missus on goals are a joke.

Anonymous said...

Sanogo vastly overated loan him out for 2 seasons then see.

Anonymous said...

Use him for fa cup thats all he's good for

Carvalho would be a good signing, however he hasn't played in a tough league like Khedira (bundesliga / la liga), still in need of a CB...
Would be surprised if Wenger signs a striker given Sanogo's performance on Saturday and the insistence he and Campbell will remain at Arsenal this year. Best signing of the lot has been the fitness coach we have signed on, hopefully he can prevent the mass injuries which seem to haunt every season

Giroud has failed to prove himself.

If we sign Carvarlho or Khadira,I'll walk naked down blackstock rd naked & as for Giroud he will be main C.F again no one new will be brought in now, imo! Sorry my fellow Gooners

I think the criticism of Giroud is un insightful, un analytical and very ignorant. Giroud scored 20+ goals last season but his form dropped after christmas due to him being knackerd. Wenger is to blame for Giroud not playing at the same level throughout the whole season; because Wenger was stupid enough and stubburn enough, to start the season with one centre forward and Bendtner.

Anonymous said...

Absolutely right.

What awesome 'supporters' we seem to have, every season it is attack a player until they lose confidence.. if any of you fools were also calling for Ramsey to be sold then you would think you would be quiet in criticising players, especially ones that have actually been pretty good for us so far.

Can't win Pl with Giroud.
Sign a new striker ASAP.

Hey...Wenger is good but for Carvaloh's case,Kevin Strootman is the man for that DM...but lets give him a chance if he so come at the Colney.
Giroud is a flop and never thinks out of box,how can a striker keep on falling down whenever he encounters a defender's aggression here we need Jackson Martinez.......but we will do well our number 4 is preserved people

Giroud was more consistently good than Ozil, Arteta, Wlishere and Podolski last season. Don't see anyone calling for them to be shipped out. Hush now ignorant fans. He is a late developer, what I saw of him in WC was an improvement once again, he keeps getting better which makes him quite the secret weapon. Unpredictable. And I salivate at the idea of our plan B, 442 with him and Sanchez up top together, which will happen if we aren't scoring. The only thing that lets Giroud down is his balance and mobility, both of which will still be worked on, especially with a new fitness coach. I think he'll score 20+ again if not more. Not to mention he's got great vision and assisting ability. Name me another striker with his physical attributes that also assist with first time flicks almost reminiscent of Dennis Bergkamp at times, don't recall RVP or Adebeyor doing that as prolifically. Yeh they scored more goals (eventually) but his assists are worth goals.

I thnk let's go forwad first then we'll check back later.

Finding replacement for olivier is not the best but someone that will give him competition. The past 2 seasons nobody compete with him, so let him compete with a very good striker and see what he can do, we can just bench him because we have Alexis we are playing more than 40 games an Alexis can do it alone, he need to rest when he is due for it

People need to chillout with regards to giroud. There's a stat out there that says if suarez and giroud both had 100 strikes at goal, suarez would only score 3 more goals than giroud. Not bad for a supposed shit player. I'm not saying he is great or the answer but don't be quick to judge him so harshly.

Bonaroca:- I know that Bonaroca is a pest and for the couple of weeks has been urging Mr Wenger to sign Carvalho. It seems that his pleas are being heard because in my opinion he is the important midfield link missing in this Arsenal setup.

Hopefully, as An Arsenal supporter
for the last 70 years, perhaps God Willing I will be able to come over to watch the Gunners playing and winning a Trophy

Wenger is our problem wen wil talk abt our attackin stuff here b'cus i dnt kwn wat he saw on giroud b'cus d guy dozen good 4 notin, nd if i wnt 2 rate dem in my own perspective.....alexi 9o%, walcott 9o%, cambell 85, ox 85 %, podoski 8o%, sanogo 65% nd giroud 35%...

All Arsenal needs now is a world class number 6, 3 and a technical striker who can be able to score a goal ať any angel.

lasekole.blogspot.com said...

Don't be quick to forget that Giroud is the best kind of player every defender would want to play against because he does not mount any form of pressure on them, and he can never rise to the occasion, when you need him, no player in europe got the number of assists Giroud had last season, my major problem with him is that he should learn 2 confront and commit defenders the more, he's always looking for assistance each time he's with d ball and as a center forward you have to be more self dependant while with d ball in order to stand out, even Sanogo is more of a threat when he is with the ball

lasekole.blogspot.com said...

How dare you mention Podolski, a man that scored in almost every game he played last season, my problem with most of you Arsenal fans is that you have decided to settle for nonsence, Giroud's problem is not finishing, but to be more bold in and out of the box, his goals are so annoyingly normal, and he can never terrorise a world class defender dat is my problem with Giroud, his football is highly predictable

Anonymous said...

Podolski is never a central lone striker in a million years!
Best finisher, YES!
However, when he has played the lone role, he simply drifts towards the ball and offers nothing.
Far more effective as a sub, playing on the left

Thank you..

so sad to see all these Giroud haters springing up online, when will they learn??? Giroud adds so much quality to the team, his awareness in the final third is second to none. OK maybe his finishing can improve but anyway you look at him, he is a huge asset.

Anonymous said...

I hope OG will have a good season this time around

Rockin_r0bin_ said...

Giroud is an asset because he does score a fair amount of goals, stats reflect this.

HOWEVER, does he score against 1)Chelsea? 2)Manchester Utd? 3)Manchester City? 4)Liverpool? I think you'll find the answer is no to all of them, maybe he scored again 'pool.

But guys, do you not remember Overmars scoring away from home to win 1-0 when we won the title? Henry and Pires so confident against Man City that they tried that cheeky penalty that went wrong? Where has our confidence gone? We're not scoring against the best teams and this worries me.
