Adebayor and Senderos nominated amongst Europe’s top performers

By Aries

The Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport has decided to run a poll among its readers to decide the best team of the week to be made up of the top 11 non Italian players in their positions.

The list of players proposed is drawn from the major leagues of Europe (Premier League, Liga, Bundesliga, France) and there are in total 26 players nominated.

The Premier League is well represented with no less than 10 players making the list. The Spanish La Liga has 8 players, Germany 7 and France only one.

Adebayor described as “devastating” is among eight forwards nominated by the newspaper along with Tottenham’s Berbatov.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport's journalists seem to have also appreciated Senderos’s performances for Arsenal since he came into the side replacing Kolo Toure while he is away on duty in the Africa Cup of Nations. He is described as solid and strong as “granite”

The other Premiership defenders nominated are Middlesbrough’s Huth and Gary Cahill of Bolton.

Jermaine Jenas (Spurs), Jimmy Bullard (Fulham), Kevin Nolan (Bolton), Kilbane (Wigan) and Peter Crouch (Liverpool) also made it onto the list. Surprisingly Flamini has been overlooked.

Its about time Senderos got some recognition. All he needs a run of games and a wise defender next to him and he is more than capable

It seems that the Italians value Senderos more than us Gooners as they obviously have seen his good performances as of late.
No wonder there are rumours that Juve want to buy him.

I fail to see how Jenas got in and Flamini was left out. Flams is a far better all round midfielder than Jenas who cannot tackle, pass straight or head the ball!

Same with Adebayor who is very highly rated in Italy. For months I was telling people on Arsenal blogs how highly rated the guy is but Arsenal fans didnt see it until he got a scoring run that just shut up all doubters.

Senderos is a good defender. He's a bit jittery and doesn't pass well. But he is a good defender.

I agree with ole gunner. It isn't until a goal or a penalty save (in the case of Almunia) is made that we then to begin to ppreciate what we 've got.

hmmm dave... remember the league cup 5-1 defeat? Jenas was really good that night and he has carried that form with him since then. But then Flamini does deserve to get on the list...

Isaac
Jenas played well in the 5-1defeat of Arsenal because he was playing against Arsenal reserves mate
