Drop Ramsey and find a new right back Mr Wenger

By 1970’s Gooner

I call it as I see it. And what I saw last night was not good enough. We had two major weaknesses which need to be corrected and soon.

The first was the form of Ramsey. He has been below par recently and needs a rest. Last night he couldn’t provide the passes or the creativity that the team so obviously lacks. The team is crying out loud for someone to take the ball in midfield and drive the team forward. But he couldn’t provide it.

As soon as Rosicky came on the whole style of play changed dramatically. We stopped playing passes sideways or to the opponents and held the ball much better. The result was that we put them under pressure and scored from our 11th corner of the match.

I would like to see Rosicky given a chance in the creative midfield role in the next games.

The second weakness was the odd decision to play Coquelin as right back. He was awful. He couldn’t keep his position or his man and ended up picking a yellow early on. His predicament was so obvious even his own players stopped passing the ball to him.

The best option should be to play Miquel at left back and Koscienly at right back. Vermaelen should start in central defence.

Arshavin was awful again. He should be sold in January. There are other players who deserve to come on as subs, like Benayoun, who will at least try unlike him who looks disinterested.

Given the tremendous effort the players put in last Sunday against City with the inevitable fatigue coupled with having to carry two youngsters we did pretty well in the end.

what a load of rubbish do you actually watch the same arsenal as the rest of us! Ramsey is a engine and does not stop running for 90 minutes! get a brain before posting comments like this! rosicky given a chance please stop the crap mate

Please sell the Russian midget, I just can't stand him any more. Lansbury can and will give more effort than this guy. He obviously doesn't want to play for us any more, please someone sell him fast back to where ever!!! We need players who are committed to the arsenal cause, which is why I love Arteta. He's playing with enthusiasm like he has been at arsenal forever.

@Otheranonymousguy What match were you watching? Ramsey was very average yesterday and looked like his legs couldn't carry him any longer. He needs a rest.

I totally agree about ramsey, he looks a bit tired this point of the season but lets not forget that he played quite little last season, he is a great prospect but needs a rest, I think that both yossi and rosicky are good alternatives...and yes you might be right about playing kos on the right and miguel on the left!

@first Anonymous. Yes Ramsey could run for 90 mins but he was highly ineffective against Villa. I think the young man needs his confidence back and most likely some rest. The write up was on point.

It seems to me that some of you are mistaking fatigue for form. If Ramsey was tired, that is a fair point, but I really do not think he lacked form in the previous game against Man City ... He had a quite brilliant game last Sunday like the rest of the team. Given the energy levels expended in that game, is it a wonder why the energy levels dropped against Aston Villa. We all need to have a sense of perspective. Merry Christmas all.

I too agree with the majority of comments in that Ramsey should be dropped/rested , take your pick , he had a v poor game last nite , one of many in my opinion and yes he did play v well against City ,but he's passing accuracy is poor and even though he has got himself in plenty of goal scoring opportunities , how many has he taken ?? I don't want to be overtly harsh on a young gifted player who has suffered a horrendous injury but I sadly think that bar the City game he has been underwhelming to say the least ....

Come Han ,Chamakh and gervino will be absent. What then? Park? Forget it.
If the gunners have a poor run in the new year by Feb and with no new faces, the gunners could finally be paid to pay for not getting the players in the Jan window. Please no more kids with wc potential. That period is effectively over. It is the present that counts.

Per can't help us. The likes of JT n Cahill will not b beaten by these 50,50 balls.

Gooners for life! I tink arsenal should do away wit chamakh and help us get Hazard, hugo at all cost and also bring kaka on loan by january to stablize d club. Ramsey should rest, chance shuold be given to rosicky and benayoun bc january is meant for experiece players. Happy Xmass all gooners fan...

When was the last time Ramsey assisted or scored in a PL game? Running for 90mins but without any impact? He is a new Denilson in making. Against City he was awful as well, he is our new weak link in midfield nowadays.

Ther should drop him for a game or too mayb that it will reflect on what's been going wrong past 2 games and come back to his best like in games vs Chelsea earlier this season

Ramsey is efficient but not effective...maybe he needs more time to gain more experience. He does not see the frontline at all...

Arshavin is not efficient and not effective...maybe age is catching up...

In the creative role, we need someone who is effective and efficient...

the selling bit is easy - lose Squillaci, Arshavin, Chamack - the next bit is easy, turn Yossi into a lower cost perm - get the Ox into the side more often and spend some money on more quality up front and in the middle - we know that is tough for you Arsene but its the only way you will keep RVP and keep us in the chase for a decent position and CL next year

It seems that Dan or Nathan or whatever you choose to call yourself you have nothing else to do but write these stupid comments always on this site!

Are you a jealous Arsenal blogger yourself?

Piss off from this site mate and let those like me who enjoy a good comment at peace!

@dan absolutely on the money pal. too many so called 'experienced' bloggers think access to a keyboard and a stint on champ manager gives them the knowledge to write and share such shite with the world. Wow ground breaking opinion...arshavin is off form. I havnt heard that before. Try finding some perspective, get behind your team and wind your neck in.
Have you ever even played football? I really do doubt it.

I sadly have to agree about Ramsey. He may be running more miles than anyone else but is actually achieving very little. He has also wasted a lot of good scoring chances, generally blazing high and wide.
We desperately need our midfielders to contribute with scoring some goals to help out Van Persie, especially as our other two 'strikers' Walcott & Gervinho are not very obliging.
We need to sign another reliable striker in January. There were rumours pre-season about interest in Odemwingie, then if you have seen any of his great goals this season for WBA you must agree he would be a superb signing and proven in the PL. He is unlike any of our squad, even RVP, in that he goes direct for goal at great speed with the intention of scoring.
Also sadly, I cannot belive how Arshavin has faded; he looked a world-beater when he first arrived. It's time for him to make a new start somewhere else and Wenger could again use the money from his transfer to bolster the squad without actually lowering the bank balance.

should have run frimpong at back i thought he would get the nod over a player who is more of an attacking mid.

Ramsey is a great prospect for Arsenal,no doubt. With the sale of Fabregas & Samir and injury to Jack, Arsene doesnot have an option their. As u all said he needs rest.
Wait an watch for 2012 matches, we are going to sign 2/3 players a striker & a full back for sure plus a midfield(50-50 chance). We will have one of the fierce battle for the title. And we Arsenal will have our sure shot at the title.

Hmmm Ramsey has been superb up until the last game, maybe even good enough to keep wilshere out of the side. I think he could use a rest too. One player who I've been disappointed with is Gerv, who for me, is the lifeblood of our attack, as he runs at opponents and takes focus off van p who can then pop up and score. He hasnt been firing too much recently so maybe a rest is needed.

I know he is going to ACN in jan but if we over play him and he has a poor tournament his confidence will be rocked. We have seen how a good tournament can boost players(Song etc). I agree Arshavin has been woeful so I say put him in ramseys role, his preferred and give him a chance, if he flops throw on rosicky and benyoun for gerv. Rosicky looked like the man we all knew and loved the other night.

I also think the other night was a perfect opportunity to use the Ox but wenger didn't, is he seeing something we don't in training?

We just need some more energy!!!!

completely agree about ramsay, feel sorry for him very young to be asked to be our main source of creativity and not quite up to it yet. Do not agree about coquelin thought he did very well considering was far better than vermaeelin. Rosicksy/ benayoun both changed game. Feel very sorry for arshavin, think best for everyone if he goes. Never going an impact player probably deserves a chance given how poor walcott was in last two games

Boy runs so much needs a rest. Rosicky healthy so use him a lil. And yosi and ox. Keep some players fresh. And when we need a score use ox, yosi late subs when not starting. Get vertonghen, he can play all over could even back up song and arteta, who also cant get a rest all season.

GUNNERS NEVER LACK. Ramsy is like Nigerian voting system free but not fair. He is efficient but not effective. Inaccuracy has been his major problem or may be ppl must ve praised him much that it sudenly got into his head. Lets not forget that fripong was another deserster in that villa match bc his removal changed the game positivelly. I still maintain my stand that arsenal gat a lot to deploy of emirate, like chamakh, arshavin, diaby, rquilacy and co. I rest my case

Best of all, these veggies may be steamed to buttery perfection in less than six minutes! Next is to insert the portafilter before pushing the button and wait. Steam dryers look almost exactly like regular dryers. Getting your ice cubes from the door saves energy, because you dont have to open the freezer every time you want ice. Maintaining balance and order within your home can sometimes be a challenge, especially when you've got multiple people living under one roof.
