Cazorla’s signing and RVP’s possible rethink places a strong Arsenal in the title challenge

By 1970’s Gooner

Don’t get me wrong Cazorla is a major signing for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. It sends out the message that Arsenal and Wenger mean business this season. And this is for two reasons.

Firstly, the total transfer outlay so far is about 40m, and still counting. This is far more than any other season in the last seven barren years.

Secondly all the transfers involve players who are far more mature both in terms of age and experience in difficult competitive leagues. Podolski is 27 and a Germany international, Giroud is 25 and a France international and Cazorla 27 and a Spain international.

They are all quality players and worthy of first team selection. And they are all added to a squad who as yet has not lost anyone of note. If RVP does eventually leave this summer then the three new comers do add up to a net addition to an already strong squad.

Consider the squad as it stands now:

Goalkeepers: Szczęsny, Fabianski, Mannone

Right Backs: Sagna, Jenkinson, , Koscienly (if needed), Coquelin, Yennaris

Left Backs: Gibbs, Santos, (we are rather short of cover here if both get injured)

Central Defenders: Vermaelen, Koscienly, Mertesacker, Djourou

Central Midfilders: Song, Diaby, Arteta, Rosicky, Ramsey, Coquelin, Frimpong, Wilshere,

Wide Midfielders: Walcott, Gervinho, Podolski, Arshavin, The Ox, Cazorla

Strikers: RVP (if he stays), Giroud, Chamakh, Bendtner (if he stays)

It seems that if RVP leaves the strikers position would prove to be an area where we may me short. Chamakh is not up to it and Bendtner wants out which leaves us with only Giroud.

Nevertheless the squad is far far stronger than in recent years.

And I boldly can predict that IF RVP has  a rethink and stays then we can  lift the title this coming season…..

So you have Kos as cover at right back who has hardly played at that position compared to Vermealen at left back who actually played for weeks in that position?

Interesting!

Walcott has been promoted to striker.

Ramsey is on his way to Fulham and Carzola will play the rosicky/cesc position.

wenger should keep Bendtner he is better then charmch

Anonymous said...

yeah dat true

Anonymous said...

yea but bendtner won't want to be 3rd striker, he still thinks for some reason that he's the best striker in the world.

We spent over £50 million last summer.
Would've though a site called Arsenal Analysis could do basic maths

£50m on players in last term. wat of players out? we lost key playeers last term. go 4 glory guns!

He's a bit raw I know, but Miquel can also fill in at LB, at a push; so we have two and two 'halves' - hopefully enough!

Seems this guy knows nothing about Koscienly and his ability. He played the right back for more than a month last season. Though, he messed up with some late runs and tackle which I considered normal with player out of position. Kos is the most committed and the most improved in that squad.honestly speaking I will prefer mauricio isla for the right back. Plays like daniel alves.

Lets pray 4 wilshere an stop talking about Ramsey

We did not spent £50m, Arteta was £10, metersacker was £8m, Gervinoh £11, Park £1m and Santos £6m which cost £36m, mind you thaey have blend together now plus the new signing we only pray for injury free and the season shall be a fruitful one.

Wenger dont beg rvp if he want 2 go no problem we hv more dan enough players

Anonymous said...

And The Ox was for free or what ? ..also there is Bartley m
issing at center back position..

Anonymous said...

You forgotten the 12 mill we paid for the ox!

The big problem is the centre half and left back position.
Mertesacker is too slow. Djourou like a puff of wind.
Santos is not a left back but is a winger.
Wenger should buy Hummels the young German centre half and move vermalan to left back.
Now you have a proper defence.

santos is a left back wenger only wants to convert him to winger

Anonymous said...

U missed podolski up front, big signing!!

Anonymous said...

Ramsey was better than wilshere before injury. Have you seen him in the Olympics? He got his mojo back. Do you honestly think wilshere is going to be back to where he was pre injury, in a game or two? Probably take a season. Get behind Ramsey, cos he's back on track.

Good signing by arsene, waiting to see a combination of van persie, carzola, podoski and walcott upfront

This team will murder teams in the EPL if RVP eventually stays.
We are good to go....!

We seriously need RVP. With cazola and sahin I tink wenger now listen to kenown.don't want to see diaby near d pitch @ all

Ramsey to fulham. ur a knob

Anonymous said...

Arsenal spent £50m last season - that didn't work. Do some research before talking crap.

Vermaelen cover for left back, Bartley before Djourou centre back.

Good

If Arsenal/Arsene want to make a statement of intent, let RVP run down his contract. Cup tie him for the cl and let him leave next summer for free. After all he cost only 2.5 million gbp.Of course the bigger piture is as the gunners are a business concern, it doesn't make sense to let him go for nothing.
You can't have the cake both ways. From the football perspective it makes sense to et him go for free next summer unless the clubs meet the minimum price.

And chambo for 12million, you knob.!

agree that we could do with another left back, esp. as Santos may be moved up the pitch.

regarding your 'gap' if RvP leaves, I think you have overlooked that Podolski can play centre forward as well as wide AM.

Bendtner and Chamakh should both really be moved on, although salaries are an issue for clubs that may be interested. M'Baye Niang can be third choice behind Giroud and Podolski, with Joel Campbell and Benik Afobe on loan for this season.

i pray rvp should stay. Then arsenal can challenge for a trophy next season. Up gunners

this squard is becoming strong now with the capture of podolski, giroud, carzola and on loan madrid midfielder nuri sahin. Arsenal are in business for a tittle contender. If Rvp should stay, it think it will help a lot. To my own knowledge i think chamack, squillaci, ramsey, park should be sold. Arsenal has something to show next season. Up gunners

go gunners its in you. D squad is a perfect match to any EPL club.
