Fabregas joins Barcelona…. in Uzbekistan!

By Aries

Everyone berated Alexander Hleb for predicting that Cesc Fabregas will eventually join Barcelona.

It seems that his prophesy has come true in quite a strange way and much sooner than everyone anticipated.

You may have heard that Samual Eto’o of Barcelona has been invited along with some other colleagues of his to visit Uzbekistan as guests of local club Kuruvchi.

This is part of an agreed cooperation between Barcelona and Kuruvchi with the aim of improving the technical level of the local players especially the youngsters and to help promote football in the country.

The youngsters in particular did not miss the opportunity to applaud their heroes.

They were part of a 10.000 strong crowd that turned up to attend the classes and play the beautiful game along with the Barcelona stars and…Cesc Fabregas!

"It was a feast. They are not any players they are champions of Europe," reported the Kuruvchí spokesman, who are current leader of the Uzbek league.

The original Barcelona contingent was to include Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernandez. However Xavi pulled out at the last moment due to his mother’s deteriorating health.

And somehow Cesc was invited to take up his place. The Spanish press is reporting that this was as part of Barcelona’s cooperation with Kuruvchi.

May be Alexander Hleb knew what he was talking about!

On the other hand the explanation that may be given is that the delegation was of Spanish internationals….

Cesc looks very tanned... But I'm more concerned with the calibre of people that come to this blog if so many of them have voted for Diaby to partner Cesc.

Diaby?? Are you serious? Stupid, can't tackle and can't pass. What part of his attributes make him a contender? Because he looks like he could be Viera's stunt double? That's all he'll ever be good for!

Anonymous said...

Well Stewart Robson and Perry Groves must be equally stupid in your eyes because they also think that Diaby could be the one to partner Cesc in the midfield next season.

disagree, give diaby a chance in pre-season and see how it looks... if he matures he can be one hell of a player and can keep the ball very well... remember no one really gave flamini a hope and look what he achieved last season.

@ anonymous

I agree with u on the Diaby case. How can all these fools agree that Diaby should partner Fabregas!!

Diaby is a useless player who cannot tackle to save a child's life.
He can't hold onto the ball without losing posession!! His passing isn't that accurate & he's always injured.

I believe the right person to partner Fabregas should be K.Toure or A.Song. And buy a replacement @ center back

Well, I wouldn't say Diaby is a useless player. But in central midfield, Diaby is definitely not the one to partner Cesc.

Firstly, Cesc is our playmaker, which means that the need of defensive midfielder to help Cesc out is obvious. We are now in the era of Cesc Fabregas, and the era of Patrick Vieira has long gone.

Cesc is definitely no Vieira and hence, our game has changed due to the fact that Arsene Wenger is forming the team around Fabregas.

Vieira is a powerful midfielder, who is very good at both attacking and defending while Cesc is excellent at attacking but is still not on par with Vieira in terms of the defensive side.

With that, it's obvious that a defensive midfielder like Gilberto and Cesc would always play better than a Vieira-Fabregas partnership.

Diaby unfortunately is more attacking-minded than defensive-minded. I expect him to make lots of fouls and lose possession frequently if he partners Cesc.

Maybe Wenger will once again experiment Diaby alongside Cesc when he returns from holiday. Then he'll see the outcome of the partnership and decide seriously what role Diaby is going to play in the squad.

It is obvious that the man should be Song. he is by far the best defensive midfielder we have. Byt he will go to the olympics. so wenger will try Diaby and if he does well he will keep him there.

If Diaby plays in midfield, it has to be as a stronger version of Cesc, not as his partner. He is not a defensive player.

How dumb are you? what is the reason why people are biased against diaby? The guy can't play the role of a defensive midfielder simple! I won't call him total sh*t but he is not aggressive enough and he's more of an attacking midfielder. We need a new signing like veloso or yaya toure to do it. Song is not mature enough but kolo might if we have no choice

Diaby would be an excellent partner for Cesc in the midfield berth. People who can't see that are clearly MOTD highlights viewers and therefore know the bare minimum of the ability the young lad holds...turn off MOTD, go to a game and witness that given the opportunity Diaby can be a world beater.

People who voted Nasri to partner are the mugs. Ramsay could perform aswell...but needs to be slowly introduced, the step up is massive.

Up the Arsenal...

I think diaby is good but unfortunately he is not a typical of holding midfilder that prevent our defense from opponents, he is more like vieira who does both duties, attacking and sometimes do the defense job, only diaby isn't mature yet, i think he is good to be an alternative player when cesc got injuried or fatigue, but trust me, this young man have a potential...

Anyone who thinks Diaby is a defensive midfielder needs to catch themselves on. But thats not to say he cant partner Cesc in the middle. But this will mean more defensive duties for the Spaniard because lets be clear about this - Diaby is an attack minded midfield player.

Diaby is a promising player but his football intelligence has so far left much to be desired. His passing and positioning is at best average and he holds on the ball for too long. He needs to learn to release it earlier. Until he learns, i'll be more assured to see Denilson take that spot.

I really do think Diaby could be great given more game time... He is bid and strong, excellent on the ball in traffic. But his passing game seriously needs to improvment! and think he is currently too attacking minded to fill the role played by Flamini. We really need to bring someone in that is ready now for this position with Diaby and Denilson competing as back up. Thought Denilson had a pretty impressinve 1st season, and he can pass a ball. Seemed like after that red card in the Carling Cup last season he disapeared????

Diably has been an on & off player in all context throughout his career w/ Arsenal. Not making excuses, but 2 main reasons could have been because he suffered a horrendous injury 2 years ago and that he was not playing regularly thereafter. Playing regularly does make a lot of difference; look at Flamini. I still believe that he is better than what he has displayed so far, given some regularity in playing time. Need to be more focused and work harder.

I think senderos should be sold and Song should replace him with Djourou offering 4th centre back option. I think Gallas should be sold and Zapata should replace him.
then if we have any money left we should buy a new DM. If we dont then Ramsey better be ready!

diaby is better than sex. and you critics shall see! check diaby's clips of his previous club & his early arsenal days (before his injury) where he played in centre midfield & did a very good job.

Diaby is strong, skillfull, battles hard (when played in his prefered position)and most of all isnt afraid to shoot. He would score more goals from midfield, something we desperately lacked last season.
one crucial handicap that killed our trophy aspiration last season(apart from defence) was depending solely on strikers for goals which was terrible, once they were injured, dipped in form we were screwed! The inevitable followed. (resulting in fans frustration and critizm of a few members of the team)

for those who say diaby is "attack minded" & wouldnt work well. First you need to realise that he played on the wings- what do you want him to do? just stand on the side lines, tackle and trackback to prove he's a good defensive midfielder whilst he's playing as a winger?(then you call him shit & say theres nothing he can do but defend) he played on the wings so has to play like a WINGER even though it's not his natural position he had to attack, hold the ball, pass, "do mazy runs" (aka dribble), defend and score which he did whenever he played. though not constantly but done nevertheless and we all know why.

CARRICK-SCHOLES won the premierleague for Man.u. GERRARD-LAMPARD won large nnumber of games and went to major finals (euro, worldcup) though england failed to win a trophy due to other factors E.g ineptness of certain players & coach, coaching staff e.t.c. Those are 2 examples off the top of my head of "attack-minded" players that worked well for long periods.

That said, diaby is a decent tackler, and powerful enough to do a magnificent job for Arsenal. "Great players can play together" both Fabregas and Diaby are great players in the making. Hence, once an understanding is platformed the right 'balance' will be established. and we may just have the real 'PERFECT' Partneship.

Diaby will be good for ARSENAL FC in 08/09 the talent, ability and experienced gained would be fantastic for arsenal

We shall see, yung sim.

Hopefully Diaby's performance won't make you eat your words or get you choke.

:D

Has Fabregas grown?

He is the same size as Puyol who is a CB !!!

to anon; July 22, 12:58 PM

im sure from my observations and a few facts that Abou Diaby wouldnt let me choke and more importantly come good for arsenal next season.

Anonymous said...

well said Yung Sim, I can't believe the negative vibe about Diaby... as you say quality players can play together...
We have suffered so many times when Gilberto was in midfield because all he could do was defend and pass sideways.
Now we have the chance to have Fabregas and Diaby, and when one attacks the other can defend, simple... back to the days of Petit and Vieira when they alternated as such.

I really can't wait for next season, Diaby and Cesc in the middle, Nasri on one wing and either Walcott, Vela or Rosicky on the other wing... this could seriously be the most exciting midfield in the Prem.

Good riddance Alex Hleb.

in fact Gilberto only looked good because we had the OUTSTANDING Pires, Vieira, Ljungberg alonggside him who all basically carried Gilberto's lack of any kind of attacking or passing sense.... in fact if you think Diaby can't pass and you thought Gilberto could, then you seriously need glasses, and need to watch a little closer and not simply just on MOTD.

OK next to Cesc;

Song: played there befor and got roasted by Boamorte against Fulham in what was described as the worst performance in an Arsenal shirt....didn't play again and went out to Charlton

Denilson: interesting but nothing creative enough to be in there

Toure: Just a simple no.

Djorou: No.

Nasri....must operate as a wide player

Diaby:

Let me tell some of the fools about Diaby....

Wenger likes him enough just to get him into the 11 even if it means playing wide as he didn't expect Flamini to have that sort of impact. He could well be the best player at the club in keeping the ball - just what we need and Cesc is an allround midfielder so doesnt need a defensive or attacking player next to him....just another Flamini who wins the ball = Diaby. He will score goals and keep the ball. Assists? Pass the ball wide Diaby

Looks to me that he is there with other Spainish Euro Winners...
