Bordeaux paper expects Chamakh to be an Arsenal player by next weekend
By Aries
It is a fact that Moroccan international and Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has made it known that he will welcome a move to the Premier League.
"I have good contacts from clubs and the possibility to join a Premier League club. I will take my time because there is some very interesting interest and I have to make the best choice." Chamakh said recently.
Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of the player that exhibits those characteristics that actually fits the mould of an Arsenal striker.
Relatively tall (6ft 1), good in the air, skillful with good close control and above all a team player. He is the type that can hold up possession and bring other players into the game.
Chamakh has not scored so many goals, 13 from 34 games last season but he has 6 assists to his name. And at 25 he is at the right age for this youngish Arsenal squad.
Now Adebayor is on his way, Wenger has the money from his sale to Manchester City and the vacancy to bring Chamakh to the Emirates.
Chamakh has a buy out clause in his contract reported to be set at set at (£8.4m) which has prompted Bordeux’s chairman Jean-Louis Triaud to state that he ‘won’t join Arsenal for €10 million (£8.4m).
Now local Bordeaux paper, Sud-Ouest, is expecting that the transfer could happen as early as next weekend although the player’s agent, Pierre Frelot, when contacted did not want to offer any information on the matter.
Chamakh has started pre season training with his club but Arsene Wenger will want him to join Arsenal’s pre season tour of Austria which begins next Monday...

yeah- its a done deal, has been for over as week as the decision to sell Ade was made & agreed with City in JUNE to happen on July 1st but (surprise surprise) was held up by Adebayoffside outrageous pay demands when he turned down initial offers of £130,000.
I like the look of this guy. He looks like a sensible Adebayor and from all reports he's not a money grabbing tosser
Good news my bum boy is hot.
Nooooooooo. We should buy Huntelaar instead....
Demba Ba would have been much better as he is 6.3 fast & his goals record is a goal per 2-2.5 per game.
Next big thing in Germany.
Chamakh will be like another Bendtner.
Sounds about right. I am against selling Adebayor to City. We shouldn't do anything to strengthen the team most likely to grab our CL spot, which would see big name departures (Cesc, Arshavin) and perhaps signal then end of Wenger's reign. Not to mention the strain it would put on the business which empty seats on european nights.
With that said, it's already done, so the important thing is to put the funds back into the club immediately.
Chamakh looks worth bringing in. He was on fire for Bordeaux during their title push last season and at 8.5M is a good value. He can offer competition to Bendtner.
However, the main focus has to be resolving the defensive midfield situation. Ideally, I would like to see us bring in Senna (33) on a two or three year deal. We need leadership, experience and a winning mentality to drive us on in the center of the pitch and he has it. Given his age, it would still be useful to bring in Matuidi to prove cover and a long-term option.
Finally, if there are any additional funds we need another wide midfielder to fill Hleb's role. Walcott should primarily be used as a substitute and Eboue and Diaby aren't the answer out wide.
really hope we don't sign that guy, I would rather play with bendtner...
anon @ 10.17 pm what is your source for those claims?
Even if true, why shouldn't someone hold out for the best price if they're having to take a step down from Arsenal to man c?
I for one will be very agnry if this guy comes in to replace Ade.
Its not that I wish to keep Ade, but rather because Chamkh is very average indeed. I have seen a lot of him this season and the fact that Sunderland were sniffing around speaks volumes about his calibre.
The problem is, the board obviously need to bank some money this summer. So rather than buy a quality replacement, with some kind of pedigree, we are pissing about in the bargain bucket again.
Heres an idea! Re-invest the FULL amount from the Ade sale. But it wont happen. And no doubt some, signing depraved, tinter will laud this as a masterstroke signing by Lord Wenger. If we were to show some abition and get Huntelaar plus our DM, then i would be extremely impressed. Everyone knows from last summer that Wengers remit is to sell players for big dosh and spend less. Ultimately, this will lead to a drop in quality. You cant keep replacing quality with mediocrity.
Schmuck is terrible he should stay at Bordeaux. Get Huntelaar;
Bendtner is twice the player Schmuck is and Bendtner can't shoot straight!!!!
this guy doesn't have to be the next henry or van nistelrooy, he just needs to replace the physical presence that we're losing up front with the sale of adebayor. he looks like he can definitely do that. he's a quick solid runner with a good workrate.
Huntelaar is average. His reputation comes from his agents. I'd much rather take Chamakh.
It's quite funny how many people want Huntelaar. Yes, he's an execellent player, but just the poor man's Eduardo. If Eduardo is a regular next season, as expected, then there is absolutely no point in signing Huntelaar.
Fully agree with the last point. We already have Eduardo who's a similair player. Seeing as pace is the main asset we're losing from Adebayor I'd actually like us to sign Martins, who has a better touch than Adebayor, is quicker and can go it alone. He'd give us another dimension and he's played for a "top" club. Apparently his creative instincts arent great and he makes silly passes but he couldn't be stupider than Adebayor and he'd be cheap, which would allow us the money to get our midfield back into the state it was 20 months ago
Oh dear. Some people saying Chamakh will replace the physical presence we are losing - but what about the goals we are losing!!! Ade has scored over 40 in the last two seasons. Im sorry, but Huntelaar is easily the better finisher of the two, in my opinion. Additionally, Chamakh will be yet another player who would disapear come African Nations. No such worries with Hunty.
Some people say Adebayor is bad. What about Chamakh? He's worse.
Is he top class?
Adebayor is a disappointment simply due to the fact that he has some special ability but we all know that without the work rate to support his talent he might as well sit on the bench. At Man City he will get everything that he always wanted (wages). Chamakh looks mostly unimpressive, not a prolific goal scorer, is tall but doesnt seem to have the strength to hold off the defensive players in the premiership. the only advantage that I see over Adebayor is his close ball control, heading ability and intelligence as a player. Mr. Offside Adebayor is not the most intelligent payer at times. We must also bear in mind the signifigance the 'Arsenal affect' will have on Chamakh, he will develop into a much better player under the guidance of Wenger and the team.
Frm wat i saw in the video i guess he has got enuf to replace Adebayor .. lol.. Think he'll do for me if Wenger promises to spend on a quality n xperienced DM soon this season.. Cos tats more imp n this cheap but decent striker is okie for me considering Arsene's lack of funds!!!
Ade was even worse when he first joined and the wenger effect took hold and turned him into a decent player. The same can happen with chamakh and people seem to forget about vela, he'll be lookin to push on this season
