Eduardo’s doctors now put his comeback much earlier than expected

By 1970's Gooner

As is known Eduardo has received permission by the Arsenal medical team to continue his recuperation from his horrific injury in the more familiar surroundings of Rio De Janeiro in Brazil.

As we first reported on this site, Eduardo has indeed arrived in Rio De Janeiro and begun his treatment at Clinic R9 along with its owner, Ronaldo.

Eduardo’s medical team which comprises of Dr. Runco along with physiotherapist Odir de Souza had already drawn up a schedule of what he needed to do for his recovery.

Now they have had a chance to assess the player from close hand they are much more optimistic with regard to his recovery period.

They expect that he can be back training in four months, as early as August.

If you remember the initial estimation was for a nine month period out of action with his return initially expected in November.

“Eduardo is very happy” said Narley da Silva his cousin and representative.

“He visits Clinic R9 every morning and that includes Sundays. The doctors will decide whether he will take Sundays off or not”.

This is great news for all of us Arsenal fans and indeed Mr Hill Wood and his stingy Board who will probably thank the Almighty they won’t have to dig into their pockets to fund the recruitment of another forward.

OHH GREAT STUFF!!

But I don't want to see us rush him back TOO soon! If he gets the all clear, I'd say give him a full month's training!
Don't want to throw him back in the firing line, only for some cunt from Blackburn to break his leg again, and for the perpetrator to be seen as the victim!

I'm glad the board are "stingy", we're trying to pay of a stadium to secure the future of the club FFS.

Would that suggest that the medical team at Arsenal are incompetent? I am a doctor myself and I would like further investigation esp. with the recurrent injuries to our players.

I agree with common sense. Arsenal fans or fans in general are immature and short-sighted. I have for some time been on the offensive on Arsene for not spending enough but I have now realised the long-term future of the club would be at stake if we dive into big spending this season. I think we will have to wait at least 2 more years before we should expect a high spending summer.

Both the board and Arsene are doing a brilliant job at securing Arsenal's long-term future so stop fantasising about David Villas and Karim Benzemas for the time being.

Anonymous said...

so while we secure the future of the club everyone else out spends us and wins things, do you honestly think manure, chav and poo wont be around in the future ? or that they wont have spent money on bringing in world class players and some unkowns to boast there already big squads compare to our and that they wont win anything ? bollocks, wake up something's not right, someone is making money and it points to the board who I think are pulling the wool over our eyes

I am not a doctor but I feel the frequent injuries might be due to Arsenal's playing style. Arsenal play quick football. Those players who are fast injure frequently. Walcott, Rosicky, Van Persie, Diaby.

The rest like Eduardo is due to luck. Injuries which last for less than a month is normal so I wont mention them

"Both the board and Arsene are doing a brilliant job at securing Arsenal's long-term future"
Right on I am sure our long term future will be secured by Flamini and Hleb leaving, playing dummies like Diaby and Eboue as wingers who can't attack let alone score, and playing that twit Senderos in a champ league QF. At this rate exepct a massive struggle to get into the top 4. Unfortunatly the days of having 4/5 players wko would grace any side in the world is long gone. Now we only have Cesc and a this rate I don't thonk he will be here after next season. If the board cant put ou a side that will fill the new stadium we are in big trouble

it's not the board's "fault." the funds are available but wenger hates a) being ripped off and b) buying superstars. so many arsenal fans are complete brats. it's embarrassing. 8 major trophies in 10 years, plus a champs league final appearance and a record breaking unbeaten season. wenger, the board and the club are obviously doing something right. grow up: the board have never made money from arsenal. the only time they'll make money is if they sell their shares (a la david dein).

"At this rate exepct a massive struggle to get into the top 4."

You weren't by any chance one of those doomsayers who said exactly the same at the start of this season were you.

Some people never learn!

Yes, "8 major trophies in 10 years" looks good on Wenger's policy, but lets look at the squad shall we?

I managed to break the squad form the last 10 years or so into 3 generations. The 1st one which is at Wenger's disposal as soon as he arrives(i.e Bergkamp, Wright, Overmars), Then the 2nd gen which consists the likes of Pires, Vieira and Henry, and finally the 3rd one which is the current crop of youngsters.

This too, came with a difference. Look at the players back then. Bergkamp was in his 26s-27s, Wright nearing 30, Overmars too, around Dennis's age. How the the 2nd gen? Vieira nearing 30, Pires already at 30, and Henry at 28. All of them consistent performers, winning with them was certainly down to this performance.

But what do we have now? Gallas who suddenly performed so inconsistently in the 2nd half of the season, Clichy, truth be told, his odd mistakes cost the team some matches(read Birmingham game), Toure whos out for the ANC and never look like himself after he came back, RVP and Rocisky spending more time on the treatment table than on the pitch.

Certainly that tells you something is wrong? 1, we dont have enough "experience" in our side like the previous 2 generations which consists more of people above 25. This is evidence glaring right at our faces. And 2,it just shows that our mentality, performance, as well as the ability to shake off injuries wasnt strong enough.

Certainly a course of concern, no? Our youngsters are good, i wont deny that, but we still need even bigger and better players to point them to the right direction.

The Board, i.e. directors, is definitely making money at the expense of the club, and this is so obvious.

How much do you think Arsenal shares have gone up, huh? DD, Russians, etc are only a part of it but with Arsenal (and more Arsene) managed to perform in the past years, as well as the stadium put in place, shares have gone up almost 10 times.

So you think the directors are not PERSONALLY benefiting, regardless of our trophy counts?

Wake up... Directors (i.e. the Board) do NOT need to wait years for the reward, fans DO. Of course, the luck few [fans] who actually own shares will benefit too not that's the minority.

Anonymous said...

DAF here:
Arsenal directors have not cashed in and taken money out of the club, the accounts prove it. Read 'em and zip it.

DD cashed in his chips when he sold to the fat Russian. DF sold some shares to SK. But that's it. Otherwise the value of the club grows and the directors do not draw down anything.

Just three words. GLOBAL CREDIT CRUNCH. Liverpool can't get the $$££ to build their stadium. Manure's huge debt is a real worry for them during thees times (ask any real Man U fan) and Chelski are financially doped, so that's unreal.

None of these teams have secured the huge increase in revenues that Arsenal have. Again - the proof is in the accounts, please read 'em.

We have just built what is arguably the best football stadium in the country. That won't happen again for a long time no matter what you hear about plans by L'pool, Chelski or the Spuds. Promise you.

Against this, a smidgen more luck might have won us something this year, playing the beautiful game the way it is meant to be played. The future's bright. I know we're all disappointed, but cheer up.

Have to agree. The future of the club is upmost. Do that and the world can be your oyster. You only have to look at the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool to see them struggling with the credit payments they need to make and poor pool cant fund a shed never mind a new stadium.
Arsenal at least get it right......we have the security now and the refunding in place. Next will be new players. People out there remember you have to learn to walk before you can run.

Nice news on Dudu.

As a fan for over 50 years let me tell you Hill-Wood, like the rest of the Board and Wenger, is sensible; just as with the banks now, when current funds in football begin to dry up the tycoons will vanish and we'll be sitting pretty. That is the history of Arsenal - calm, moderate, longterm mapped. And Wenger's interest in the game is making players, not buying has-bbeens in their fading glory. I want silverware badly, very badly, but not at the expensie of foolish spending. And I can't wait to see Dudu back - He was becoming electric and he'll rise again. There you are - Wenger found a gem. He'll find more.
