Arshavin on why Martins missed the penalty and Wenger’s prediction Newcastle will tire

By Aries

Andrey Arshavin has been speaking about his second game on the road for Arsenal which was also victorious (the first was West Brom).

He conceded that Newcastle came out of the blocks running which was something that Arsene Wenger warned them about.

“The first 25-30 minutes they gave us a hard time. Arsene Wenger warned us that this will happen by showing us the video of their last game where from the first minute they went into battle (mode).

Arshavin and his team mates were however told by Wenger that this onslaught will eventually peter out as Newcastle will get tired. And indeed this is what happened.

“The coach stressed that we must endure their onslaught at the beginning and then the time will come when they get tired. It will then be easier to play. And that has actually happened in this game” Arshavin said.

Newcastle’s positive approach right from the off almost paid dividends but the penalty kick by Martins was saved by Almunia.

“The penalty was a good opportunity to open their account. But I thought Martins was scared of our goalie, who saved the penalty”

This added to our confidence and in the second half when they tired our class and skill showed through” he said.

Why has no one on any blog I have read mentioned that w@nk3r Steven Taylor and his forearm smash on Arshavin - Or am I the only one who though he should have seen red - The people I was watching in the pub with thought he deserved the card

Anonymous said...

because your a daft cockney watching it in the pub, probably never been to a match in your life and dont understand football

Anonymous said...

It's called football you pie-eating northern coackroach because it is played with the foot not the elbow. Now piss off down your coalmine if you can find one that's still open...

Anonymous said...

should have been a straight red mate

Anonymous said...

last time i checked an elbow to the head was a straight red and dont give me any of this bullshit that 'its because arshavin is short and taylor didnt mean to get him in the head' the dirty bastard looked up and then at arshavin and then the cunts elbow came out. That aside, what about the other tosser taylor who grabbed clichy in a headlock? Well i suppose that if an elbow to the head isnt even a yellow, a headlock must be the equivalent to a pat on the back. Im just so fucking glad we scored as a result of that foul. Their shirts should say 'Northen Cocks' instead of 'Northen Rock'

How good was DeDiaby is getting the plaudits, he was a disgrace for the majority of the game. Denilson is a little star.

Blimey - A Geordie who can read and has access to a computer - They are as rare as a Barcode Trophy - Sorrry to disappoint mate but been a season ticket holder since 1992 and saw my first game in 1973 on a freezing cold night vs Norwich As for "knowing" about football I haven't forgiven you muppets for the stick ~Pires got when he knackered his cruciate in front of the clock end and Tango man and the rest of your pie eating mates gave him dogs abuse - You are only jealous cos I can afford to go into a pub and don't have to nick my beer out of ALDIs

To daft cockney Goooonah,You're wrong on two counts.1, Stevie Taylor didn't elbow him it was his forearm and 2, It's Lidl's or Nettos' we normally go to for our drink.

To fat b*st*rd If you read MY post I say forearm smash to the head - dont think I mention an elbow - Still nowhere in the Laws OR SPIRIT of the game But glad you have a sense of humour mate but been to the Toon loads of time and never seen a Nettos !!!

Cockneys are clearly still living in the past, because we're northern or a Geordie we're thick?
Coal mining and stuff, give me a break man.
Why moan about something, when you's won 3-1.
Cockneys are the most arrogant, horrid people in the hole on the UK. Steven Taylor was the best player on the pitch till he went off injured.. you's then took control. Nowt wrong with a little bit of roughing up.. Or can you soft southerners not deal with it? not got your knives or your "bruvs" to help you out... horrible tw*ts.

This is funny these posts.

OK anyone who sticks up for Taylor, I'm not interested in talking to. That's just ridiculous bias. He was a nasty piece of work if I ever saw one. Bending the rules until the snapped.

I like Geordies. I'm from London. I don't like the aggression Taylor showed it was rather horrible. That guy is a real clown .. if you watch his YouTube videos he's done all kinds of ridiculous stuff like handballing to prevent goals then rolling around like he's been firebombed.

Anyways. Up the Arse. Well done lads.

PS Love the mad Arshavin run and cannon shot.

Let's jsut calm down with the Northern bashing. I'm from County Durham but I'm a life long Arsenal fan.

Anyway I too thought that them Taylor challenge should have resulted in a red card, straight up. Then he wouldn't have been there to stop the 3 definitie chances we had in the 1st half.

And when Clichy was properly attacked by Lovenkrands but managed to get away then was headlocked to the ground and we got a free kick and nothing else is shocking.

These teams like Blackburn, Bolton & Newcastle are praised constantly for "getting in our faces" when what the emdia actually means is they are thugs who assault us and becasue they're known for doing it they're akllowed to get away with it.

So what if Mike Halsey is the most lenient ref in the country when he's allowing play to continue for an advantage then great, but when he's ignoring blatant assaults on our players then awarding the softest penalty in the world against us it's shocking.

No consistency from the referees in this country, but at least we sure stuck it to the Geordies to show them to to really play football.

I live in London, but my girlfriend is from Newcastle and I have to say that her whole family are great about football - they all cheer us on because they like to watch decent football! - Dont forget that its not Arsenal they hate, its other teams like the Mancs and of course Sunderland! I say leave them alone, they have the own problems (relegation battle!) at the end of the day we won and some of the fouls were deserving of a red card, but the ref was a useless tosser! I do have to say on a brighter side - Villa look like a pile of shite! which is good news for us!

First some facts. I am a Gunner of 58 years, and a cockney, and areal fan not a temporary fan. I love the geordies, yes a lot of their fans are pillocks but so a thousands of Gunners. This stack of insults really shows the ages of the contributors too. As for the game, the facts are that A true result could have been Newcastle 1 AFC 7. Taylot although a guy with a lot of pride in his club is also a bit of an idiot. He defends to the death but could and should have been sent off twice! As for the officials missing the double assaults on Clichy is nothing short of disgraceful AND IF THAT HAD BEEN AN AFC PLAYER THE TV AND PRESS WOULD HAVE DEMANDED SUSPENSION FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.

I want to know why the ref did not send Taylor off for his elbow on Ashavin. Some refs have done that. The Fa shd punish this ref for his oversight. If it were a cl match,I'm 110% sure Taylor would have been sent off.
That's why England will never win the WC when it condones such violent play.

Firstly Anonymous is obviously a berk and you Arsenal fans are going for it big style - forget him, he's in the minority. Oh and as for the coal mines crap - pleased you find so much unemployment, communities being destroyed and families splitting up funny as that is what it caused. Big of you. Secondly, onto the match - how the two teams went in 0-0 at half time was beyond me. Hell of a half. Yes Taylor was very lucky another ref would have been more strict. But he's daft and young (though that is in no way excusing his thug like behaviour). Going to be a hard slog for NUFC but can see the Gunners once again in the CL but I think the run has come too late for a title charge.

Anonymous said...

Why did no one pick up on Taylor in the first few minutes where he stood on Arshavins foot and then kicked the other one.. clearly an attempt to upset the stiches and make him retire to the bench...

..really sick sad stuff... Karma will come when you get relegated..

Anonymous said...

I am a Geordie... and Taylor should have got a straight Red card but he is indeed a class defender. please remember this is a contact sport or would you rather 11 fannys ran on the pitch with handbags. I have also lived in london for 12 years and found it amazing the amount of Arsenal wankers in the boozer on Essex road. However, there is a few of those in Newcastle too. All in all... 3-1 completely flatters Arsenal and a draw would have been a fairer result. You scored your 2nd goal when Newcastle were down to 10 men and we were unfortunate. Injuries to the outstanding Bassong (you won't get your hands on him by the way at least not for the next few years) and Taylor contributed to that. I believe your manager also agree's or are you questioning him now... again? So pipe the feck up and stop whinging.

To quote:- "geordies, thick, fat pikeys .enough said!"

I'd say the lack of capitals and the pathetic punctuation labels you as "thick" as well, wouldn't you? So to use your own assumption - "Cockney's, thick, fat pikey's. Enough said!" Easy to generalise, isn't it?
